he descubierto la entrada del templo

I’ve discovered the entrance of the temple

el ingreso es a través del umbral

entry is through the threshold

crying is heard in the adjoining room

¿puede una imagen llorar por otra anterior?

can an image weep over a previous one?

las paredes están cubiertas de escrituras

the walls are covered in writings

intentaré traducir la historia que cuentan

I’ll try to translate the story they tell

man was expelled from the divine firmament because of his arrogance. he fell from the sky, condemned to dwell alone on the dry and floating rock that today we call home

a star witnessed the fall and felt sorrow. from her spilled a tear which also fell. as it touched the ground of our house, the tear became a river and flooded the world with lives

there were then many lives and man wanted to keep them. with his blood and with the blood of the lives he kept the shadows of said lives, and his too

many were the shadows kept and man’s house was covered with them

the star had gifted the lives to man, but he had covered the world with shadows and then he could no longer see

so it was that the star wept again and, as it fell, its tear became a river of words. each word told the story of a life and kept its shadow. the word took up less space than the shadow. the house, the lives and its shadows could all be kept there

man took a word from the river. he used it to say ‘man’ for the first time and the river flowed towards him

he placed the leftover words one on top of the other and built a temple. in it he kept the river and everything that was and everything that could be

moons and suns the same passed by. many of those samenesses passed, and the temple was forgotten

in oblivion, a shadow met a word and they hatched a plan

they would disarray the river of words that man had piled up and so lives, words and their shadows would be free again

from the sky, the star heard the plan and shed one last tear. then she threw herself after it towards man’s house, to become herself a possibility

as I finish reading the story a noise is heard that echoes in the temple

se lo vé también

it is also seen

el templo tiembla

the temple trembles

y sus paredes empiezan a caer

and it's walls begin to collapse

¡1a estructura no resistirá mucho más!

the structure won’t last much longer!

¡debo escapar del templo!

I must escape the temple!

¡allí veo la salida!

I can see the exit!

the horror, that we might be left in ruins
