REMARKS In this pattern the ‘magic loop’ is used often. If you do not want to use this method or simply don’t know how to do it, you can also try this: Chain 2. Work 6 single crochet in the first chain stitch. Continue with round 2.

In this pattern I don’t mention when the crocheted parts are stuffed. I find it easiest to fill the parts gradually while crocheting. Make sure you stuff the body firmly, but be careful that the stuffing doesn’t show trough the stitches.

If there is a color change it is mentioned in the pattern. However, it could be that this happens in a very visible place, like in the front of a leg. In those situations you could just make a few more single crochets in the current color to make the color change appear on the back and thus make it less noticeable. These extra stitches are not mentioned in the pattern.

This pattern is written in American terminology.

Now single crochet the 12 stitches together: fold the arm. Make sure the seam of the color change is on the back of the arm. The back is the side of the arm which you will not see when the arm is attached to the doll, so that’s the doll’s armpit. If you need a couple more single crochets to make that happen, crochet them. Then single crochet both sides of the arm together, so the arm closes: sc 2, sc2tog, sc 2 (5) Bind off and sew the arms to the body between the skin tone and blue row in Tommy’s neck.

20 20

Now crochet the leg of the pants in the remaining loops of row 29 of the legs. Hold the leg upside

SHOE (2x) The shoe is still crocheted the round just like the other parts of Tommy, but from now on you have to close each row with a slip stitch in the first stitch of that row. After this you chain one, and make the following stitch of that row in the same stitch as where you just placed the slip stitch you used to end the previous row. This will make sure that the ‘seam’ will be almost invisible and also in the center of the back of the shoe, so the color changes will look nice. When finished, attach the ‘shoe laces’ as you can see in the pictures below:
