Hidden side of him by Fly_away123 Summary

Jimin is an assistant in a record company. It isn't exactly his dream job, but nevertheless he is okay with it for now. There is one problem though: his boss Yoongi is an absolute jerk who drives him crazy. And not in a good way.

Overcoming the hatred, Jimin eventually figures out that he actually feels the complete opposite. ”We both make each other insane; that’s what love is.”

Chapter 1 Jimin has been working at Bangtan Records for almost five years. Being a singer had always been his dream and as soon as he turned 16, he sent an application and an audition tape to every record label in the city. To his disappointment he got zero replies. To not torture himself, he totally forgot about the thing and instead started working in his father's office. Then one day, more than a year later, he got an email and almost fainted on the spot; the message was from Bangtan Records asking him to come to an interview. It is Monday and Jimin is at his desk writing things down in the calendar, mind wandering in the past. He still remembers that day like it was yesterday. The only thing is that when he got accepted to the company, he pictured it was to become an idol singer. The phone rings disrupting Jimin’s day dreaming and he scoffs. He isn’t a world-famous artist. He isn't touring around Asia playing concerts for tens of thousands of people. He doesn’t even have his own office. Despite having worked overtime almost every day for the past five years, having attended all the office parties trying to suck up to the executives and coming up with innovative ideas that someone else ended up claiming, Jimin is still a personal assistant. Yes, he works for Min Yoongi, Korea’s biggest hip hop producer, but it isn't enough. He always thought the assistant job would be something temporary. ”Hi Jiminie. Did you ask mister Dickhead?” It is Seokjin, Jimin’s good friend. He is also one of the vocal coaches at the company. Jimin doesn't remember when they started calling Yoongi mister Dickhead, but he without a doubt deserves the nickname. ”Oh shit, I forgot. Let me quickly ask him now.” Jimin knocks on Yoongi’s door, slowly opening it. He is at the computer, only his slightly wavy, silver hair visible. Jimin never thought someone like Yoongi would dye his hair, although the colour suits his serious and dry personality very well. ”Excuse me, sir. I forgot to ask if you’ll be at the studio tomorrow? Jin hyung needs it with one of his clients.” ”No, I won't. Now leave me alone, I'm working on something important.” Yoongi mutters, not even looking up and just waving his hand hurriedly. Jimin can't help but to roll his eyes as he goes back to his desk, picking the phone up again. "Hyung, the studio is free." He says, voice quiet and glum. On the inside he is absolutely seething. "Oh, one of those days? Just ignore it, don't let him ruin your day." Jimin says bye to Seokjin and hangs up, closing his eyes and taking deep breaths. He can't ignore it and it does ruin his day. Every single time. How could he ignore the fact that his boss treats him like he is invisible, like he doesn't matter. It has been going on for far too long —ever since he started actually— and he is getting sick and tired of the treatment he is receiving. After a couple dozen calls, Jimin is done for the day. He can’t wait to get home, collapse onto the bed and switch his brain off with his favourite K-drama. As much as he enjoys his job, it can be extremely tiring and hectic, mainly because of his boss.

Stepping out of the elevator to the main lobby, he sees Taehyung with his flame red hair that is impossible to miss. He picks up his pace, not forgetting to greet the receptionist as he does every morning and evening and taps Taehyung on the shoulder. ”Hello Mister Kim! How has your week been?” he exclaims. ”I wanted to suggest something to you, sir.” Seeing as Taehyung is the CEO of Bangtan Records, which makes him the most important person in the building, hardly anyone has the courage to speak to him directly. That doesn't matter to Jimin though; he has always been very outgoing and people tend to open up to him quite quickly. And Taehyung is no exception. For some reason he treats him almost like a friend and always seems to have time for him. Jimin's colleagues never stop teasing him about how he is the big boss' favourite. Taehyung turns his head, a little surprised, but smiling. ”Jimin, nice to see you!” Then he drops the smile, sighing deeply. ”Nothing new, you know. Meetings, meetings and more meetings. I’m just on my way to the airport actually. We're looking into signing a hip hop duo, who’s currently on tour in Japan. We have to snatch them before anyone else. We’ll talk as soon as I get back.” He doesn’t have time to say anything before Taehyung is already out of the door, stepping into his limousine.

Jimin arrives at the office at 8 am and leaves after 7 pm every weekday. Most weekends he feels like he might as well go to work as he doesn't really have anything better to do. He lives alone in a tiny studio apartment, only a couple of subway stops from the office. The location is probably the only good thing about the place, because it is literally the size of a shoe box. There is only space for a futon and a tv on the opposite wall. The kitchen —although it can hardly be called that— is just a fridge next to a breakfast bar and two stools. For now it is more than enough though as he spends most of the days at work or running errands for Yoongi. His job is basically his whole life. That is something that Jimin has in common with his boss. They are both extremely hard-working and ambitious; always trying to be the best in whatever they do. It is probably the only reason why Yoongi hasn’t fired him, because 99% of the time it seems like the older hates his guts. The feeling is more than mutual. ”What the hell!” Jimin grunts, voice hoarse. He picks up his phone that is ringing on the floor next to the bed and gets blinded by the bright screen. Although Yoongi calls him in the middle of the night surprisingly often, it doesn't make it any less infuriating, quite the opposite. ”Mister Min! You know it’s 2 in the morning. And it’s Saturday! This better be important.” After working for Yoongi for such a long time, Jimin is very comfortable with him. During the first couple of years he was cautious and very aware of himself around the man, not wanting to mess up and get fired. Through getting to know him more, Jimin's attitude completely changed and he doesn't really even see Yoongi as someone superior anymore. He certainly doesn't shy away from saying what he thinks at any given moment, even though a clear boundary of a

work relationship still does exist of course. ”I wouldn’t call if it wasn’t. Can you please come to the studio? I need your opinion on something.” ”There seriously isn’t anyone who could help you? I have to haul my tired ass there in the middle of the night?” ”No. See you in 30 minutes.” Yoongi says adamantly and hangs up. Jimin throws the phone to the other end of the bed. He then screams into his pillow in frustration before kicking the covers off of him. For a second he is seriously considering just giving up and quitting his job then and there, but reluctantly crawls out of bed, groaning and rubbing his still practically shut eyes. He throws on the first thing he can find and makes his way to the studio. Excluding the security guard in the main lobby, the building is completely empty —as expected at this hour— and Jimin can't believe he is there. After taking the elevator upstairs, he opens the door to the studio that is a couple of floors down from the office part of the building. It is a familiar sight: Yoongi sitting at the desk. It seems like working on his computer is all that the older does. However, despite finding him the most infuriating person in the world, Jimin can acknowledge that no one really is more dedicated and passionate about his work than Yoongi. He wants to produce the best songs possible which naturally takes countless of hours. ”Hello, boss! I’m here. What can I help you with?” Jimin says somewhat upbeat, trying to hide his exhaustion and annoyance. Without even turning around to face him, Yoongi points to a tape on the table. ”I need you to listen to that and tell me if it sounds even half decent.” ”That’s all? You could’ve just sent me the audio! You know what, I think your only goal in life is to boss me around. I’m going back to bed now, so good night.” This makes Yoongi spin in his chair to look at him with an expression of what did you just say, forehead in a frown and lips slightly parted. Not wanting to give the other a chance to respond, Jimin slams the studio door behind him, leaving an astounded Yoongi inside. He loves his job and has been attempting to move past the fact that he is being pushed around like some mindless clown. However, this was the last straw. He is finally done with being treated as if he doesn’t have a life of his own. Well, in all honesty he doesn’t, but there is no need for Yoongi to know that. Then he starts thinking how this was the first time he actually stood up for himself and didn't do what his boss asked of him. This might actually make the older realise that things have to change. Feeling almost triumphant, he gets home and crashes onto the bed, too tired to do anything but just lie there. After a while a completely opposite emotion takes over him again. What if he screwed up? What if the protesting didn't sit well with Yoongi and he’ll lose his job? What if he won't find another position and ends up living on the street?

”…thank you for contacting us. I will get back to you once I talk with mister Min. Have a good day!” Lucky for Jimin, Yoongi has been out of town for business and he has been successful in avoiding the other for the past week. That hasn't stopped him from thinking about the inevitable moment of getting fired and the stress has gotten to the level of not being able sleep at nights. He has even began looking for other jobs, also in other cities, but hasn't found anything remotely suitable which just feeds into the extreme anxiety he has been living in. As a result of the insomnia, Jimin's work has naturally suffered. He has kept nodding off involuntarily —in the middle of meetings, at his desk, on the subway— all week, not being sure of what is reality and what is not. He knows he shouldn't overthink things, but it has always been a problem of his; analysing every little detail and endlessly finding flaws in himself. To make everything so much worse, the tyrant is back now. His stomach twists upside down, when out of nowhere Yoongi asks him to come to his office through the intercom. He stiffens in horror, thinking this is it; his last moments at Bangtan Records. He steps in and greets the older with a shaky voice, avoiding eye contact. ”Is something wrong? Why do you seem tense?” ”It’s nothing, mister Min. I’m just tired.” He clears his throat, trying to get rid of the nerves that are making it hard for him to breathe. ”Could you please take this down to accounting? If it’s not a problem to you.” Yoongi scoffs, smirking and raising one eyebrow. Jimin almost chokes on his own saliva and can feel his whole face heating up. What!?!? I'm not fired?!?? He sighs in relief, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. Then he realises Yoongi is holding out the folder of documents and, straightening his posture, grabs it. He still can't bring himself to look at the other and just glances around nervously. ”Yes, sir. Anything else?" There is no answer, so he makes his way to the door. As he is about to open it, he can hear the older getting up. Jimin turns around and falters backwards, hitting his back against the doorknob, as Yoongi walks up to him and lets out a soft laugh before slightly brushing his cheek with his fingers. ”Well, I did actually have something else.” Yoongi comes even closer which causes Jimin to freeze and hold in his breath in utter shock. He feels lightheaded, because they are standing so close that the tips of their shoes are touching and if either of them tilted their heads even a little bit, their foreheads would collide. Jimin stares at the other in awe —he is his boss after all— for a few seconds before slapping his cheek softly, trying to wake up from this dream he is obviously having. The older smiles while leaning in and Jimin, not sure what else to do, squeezes his eyes shut. Out of nowhere he can feel a hand touching his shoulder, causing him to jolt up. "W-what are you doing!!" He gasps, trying to catch his breath. Opening his eyes and realising that he is in actuality sat in his own chair by his desk, he places a hand on the chest, thanking the universe that it was all just a dream. He turns his head back and gets startled again seeing Seokjin standing right behind him.

"Dude, you should go home." The older laughs while patting his head, but then flinches, whole face furrowed in worry. "Are you okay? You're all sweaty." "Yeah, I'm okay." No, I'm fucking not. I just dreamed about my boss kissing me. "If you say so." Seokjin grins, raising his eyebrows teasingly. The older knows him too well and can obviously sense that something is up. The two met each other at an office party about a week after Jimin had started in the company and have formed a really strong friendship over the years. They can immediately tell if either of them isn't telling the truth or is bothered by something. Jimin fakes a smile, hoping that the other would just forget about the subject. He can't help but to be snarky, still feeling very affected, wondering why on earth he would imagine himself with mister Dickhead. "Oh, stop smirking like an idiot! Did you have something to say or are you just snooping around?" "Oh wow, you really need to chill!" Seokjin huffs, still kind of smiling. "I was just going to ask if you wanted lunch, but maybe it's better to leave you alone right now, ray of sunshine." Feeling bad for taking out the frustration on his friend, Jimin is deliberating whether to reveal why he is being like this. He is sure Seokjin wouldn't really take the dream seriously, probably just saying that it doesn't mean anything. He himself knows well enough that it does mean something though and decides against telling. "Sorry for snapping at you. Thanks for the offer, but I have to finish this. Lunch tomorrow, yeah?" Seokjin just nods and looks at him while patting his back, telling him that he is there if needed.

Jimin has kept himself busy for the last few weeks. If he had stopped for even a second, he would have thought about the dream about a certain someone and he can't allow that. He really needs to get rid of any lingering feelings as soon as possible. He is at home, getting ready for bed, when the doorbell rings. That's weird, I'm not expecting anyone. He opens the door and gets the shock of his life. He is so taken aback that his heart starts pounding like crazy. "W-wh-hat! What the hell are you doing here?" Yoongi is standing there. Right in front of him. By his door. At his apartment. In his building. "Well, you have been avoiding me at work lately, so I decided to come to you." "Why? You're really that desperate? What do you want from me now?" Yoongi tilts his head and looks past him, as if asking for permission to come inside. Jimin's first instinct is to slam the door in this face and tell him to get the hell out. Something —he really has no idea what— at the back of his head makes him step aside, allowing the other to enter.

"Wow, this is tiny." Yoongi laughs breathlessly, tone half amused, half condescending. "Yes, I know I live in a complete shit hole. No need to point it out. Can you just get to why you're here? I'm sure you didn't come for a house visit." "OK, someone's a little on the edge." In an instant the smug smile on Yoongi's face disappears and he starts fidgeting, seemingly nervous and apprehensive. Jimin wonders why he would be nervous. Although he knows him very well, Yoongi can be difficult to read and sometimes it is impossible to figure out what goes on inside the older's head. Most of the time Jimin couldn't care less to find out, but right now it is different; Yoongi came all the way to his apartment, so this must be something huge. ”As you surely know, I’m bad with words." Yoongi utters so quietly that Jimin can't almost hear him. He then raises his voice a little. "Anyway, there's something I've wanted to say to you for a while now.” The older stands still next to the breakfast bar for a whole minute, just staring at the walls and swaying from side to side. All of a sudden he sighs before shaking his head while muttering something under his breath. Jimin is getting extremely anxious and actually a little worried about Yoongi's intentions. What is happening?! "Sooo?" Jimin asks, keeping his expression neutral, but in reality he is very impatient, burning to know the reason for this surprising visit. "What is it that you want to say?" Yoongi steps a little closer while biting his lip, making Jimin flinch, but almost immediately backs away. Obviously deeply regretting being there, the older makes a weird noise and opens the door, about to walk away. Jimin can't let the other leave without finding out why he is there. "Yoongi, don't go!"

"Yoongi, don't go!" His heart skips a beat, a smile creeps up on his face and a strange feeling settles in the pit of his stomach. A few seconds ago he didn't want anything more than to escape without confronting the situation, but something makes him come to a stop at the end of the hallway of Jimin's floor. Yoongi has always been a very driven person and without an exception knows what he wants and also needs to do. There is an exception though; one thing, or more like one person, affects him in ways that nothing or no one else does. When it comes to music, work, future plans, what to wear or eat, and even relationships, it never takes him long to make a decision. He really doesn't like going back and forth. For some reason right now he is struggling to decide. It would probably be best to just go and forget about what he was about to do, but he isn't able to turn down Jimin's delicate plea. Oh, fuck it! He turns around and walks back towards the apartment. There is a hint of hesitation in his step as he wonders whether this is a good idea after all. When he gets to the door, Jimin looks at him, eyes slightly squinted and mouth in a straight line. "Oh, you're back to calling me Yoongi?" He says with a slight grin. The way Jimin's cheeks and ears suddenly flare up makes him a little abashed himself. The last time Jimin called him by his first name was about two years ago. Momentarily Yoongi's thoughts are clouded by memories; back then everything was very different and they were a lot closer. He misses the long talks they used to have, the way they made each other laugh, how comfortably they could just sit in silence. In a way he wishes things would go back to the way they were, but then again there is a reason why the two drifted apart. He all of a sudden remembers that he isn't alone and notices how Jimin hasn't stopped staring at him, as if trying to read his face and make sense of what is happening. As soon as their eyes meet, the younger looks away to the side, squirming awkwardly. "Sorry mister Min, it was unintentional. Won't do it again." The other utters before clearing his throat. His attitude is completely opposite to how he was acting before Yoongi took off; instead of being annoyed and defiant, he seems timid. Yoongi wants to go inside again, but decides to just stand at the door, leg shaking nervously and teeth gnawing on the inside of his cheek. Clearly also feeling uneasy, Jimin is fidgeting around, eyes now directed at the ground. They stand still without saying anything for a little too long and

he needs to say something to relieve the tension. While gathering up the courage to speak up Yoongi catches a glimpse of the younger's face. Why is he so beautiful. "Anyway, the thing I wanted to say..." Jimin immediately lifts his gaze, making Yoongi turn into a flustered mess, unable to continue on with his confession. The two go back to standing still like statues, but now they make eye contact. It is like the whole world comes to a stop. This entire thing makes him kind of angry at himself. Why does he have to feel this way... Jimin has him completely under his spell and even with eyes closed he would be able remember every little detail of the younger's features; the gentle, pitch-black eyes, the adorably round cheeks and the plump, pink lips. He has tried to deny it since day one, but this kind of unexplainable tension has always existed between them. His way of dealing with it has been to act as distant as possible. He does admit that sometimes he might be a bit too cold and professional, but there is no other option. He knows exactly what would happen if he let his guard down. "No, I can't stay." Yoongi mumbles quietly under his breath, shaking his head. "What did you say?" Jimin asks, leaning a bit closer in curiosity. Yoongi huffs out, frustration taking over. Why can't he make up his mind? It should be simple, but it is far from it. His heart wants him to take the risk and come clean about everything while his head is begging him to forget about this and go. As much as it pains him, he makes the decision to leave, practically running towards the elevator. "What the hell! You're just gonna bail?" Before getting in, he glances over his shoulder and sees a puzzled Jimin standing outside the apartment, hands stretched behind his head and mouth wide open. Even though he has the urge to go back for the second time, there is no way he will embarrass and humiliate himself any further. The way he sees it, Jimin had the chance to make a move if he wanted anything with him. He didn't, so that is it. I really need to get a grip!

”Hi Joon. Just wanted to say good luck for tonight. I can’t make it, but I know you and Hope will do great.” Yoongi says to the phone. Namjoon and Hoseok are some of his oldest friends; the three know each other since their underground rapping days and haven't lost contact even though life has taken them to very different places. He is incredibly proud of them for finally getting a record deal after having struggled for so many years. ”Hyung, seriously? But you have to be there when we get introduced to the whole world.” ”Sorry, I’m too busy with these new songs and really don't have time to come to the party. Need to go now.” Yoongi says without practically breathing, wanting the conversation to end, and hangs up.

Yoongi does that a lot; hang up although the other person might not be finished. It is not like he does it to be rude or because he doesn't care. He wants to be the one who is in control, as there isn't anything he hates more than to have to explain his feeling or actions to other people. Also, he lied. There are no new songs, he isn't even in the studio. He has been laying on his sofa all day in a pair of dirty sweats and an old t-shirt that has way too many holes in it. He barely ever skips a day of work, but because of him for some reason he hasn't had any motivation and much less inspiration to work on anything. The scarring night at Jimin's apartment two weeks ago really made him curl back into his shell. He can't believe the way he crumbled down the moment he was supposed to suck it up and just be honest. At the end of the day he is actually relieved that he left and nothing happened. What if... There is still a certain amount of curiousness haunting at the back of his mind. It would have been interesting to say the least to see the younger's reaction and hear what he thinks. The night could have turned into an even more of an embarrassing disaster, but it also could have changed his life. Jimin is someone —probably the only person in the world— that Yoongi can’t hang up on or cast aside. Every single time he is close to the younger he has to force himself to ignore the fact that his legs go numb and his stomach flips in complete infatuation. Surprisingly for a week or so that hasn't really happened. He has always been very good at pretending that nothing affects him. At least to the outside. It is what goes on in his head that is the problem, but maybe now he has finally started getting over whatever he feels towards the younger. And that is exactly why Yoongi is skipping the launch party tonight. Jimin will obviously be there and he can't bare having any kind of interaction with him outside of work. Knowing how the other is, he would surely want to talk things through. A few existential crises later Yoongi changes his mind for the hundredth time. Realising he needs to be at the party to support his friends, he calls a taxi and, after not really paying attention to what he put on, hurries out of the door. These stupid feelings can't come in the way of living his life.

He takes a deep breath as he gets to the party. ”It’s okay. I’m here for Joon and Hope and we’ll have a great night.” He tries to reassure himself that nothing bad will happen, because he has been on the brink of a full-on meltdown since leaving home. He really needs to calm down or at least seem somewhat normal. He can't collapse and lose it in the middle of the party, but more importantly his friends can't suspect anything. Everyone is dressed in elegant suits and glamorous dresses, cameras are flashing which is making it hard to see anything and some very generic ambient music is being played on the speakers. What is this shit! The atmosphere of the whole event doesn't really go with the hip hop image his friends portray which makes him wonder who was in charge of planning everything. They should definitely get fired.

To his relief, at the back of the office space he spots Namjoon’s light turquoise hair, Hoseok right beside him. Both of them are wearing black tuxedos that most likely cost more than Yoongi's whole entire wardrobe combined. On one side of them he sees Taehyung talking to a fairly young-looking man and on the other side are Seokjin and the last person he wanted to see right now. He already regrets being here. Thoughts turning into mush, Yoongi immediately feels his throat drying up as he tries to swallow his annoyance. He inhales sharply while bracing himself for one of the most uncomfortable moments ever. He walks up to the group and pats Namjoon and Hoseok on the back, refusing to look to his sides. ”What's up with the suits?” He states in a monotone tone, a slight, one-sided smirk on his face. "Well, at least we don't look like we got dressed in the dark." Namjoon laughs while looking down at Yoongi's light brown khakis and a bright yellow plaid shirt and suddenly he is very self-concious, wondering where he even found this kind of an ensemble. Literally all the clothes he owns are black. "But great to see you!" "Yeah, I couldn't miss out on seeing you two idiots." ”Hyung, you came after all! It’s so crazy here. Good that you didn't skip it.” Hoseok yells out, giving him a lazy high-five. Even though he still keeps his eyes locked on his friends, Yoongi can sense everyone’s heads turning to his direction which makes him feel even more awkward. ”Yoongi, what a nice surprise to see you!” Taehyung exclaims, not sounding very sincere (which is weird, because, even though he doesn't know the man that well, every time they meet he seems annoyingly friendly and excited about everything). ”I’ve never seen you at these company events before.” Yoongi quickly glances at the boss with a forced smile before noticing how the dark-haired guy next to Taehyung starts tucking at his sleeve. ”Oh yes, this is Jeon Jeongguk. He is an upcoming singer and a huge admirer of yours.” ”Oh. I don’t know what I’ve done to be admired, but thanks.” Yoongi says indifferently. He has never really cared about being praised by so-called fans and it actually embarrasses him quite a bit. He would much rather work anonymously as long as his music got recognised. Jungkook is visibly blushing. ”Wow, I can’t believe it! Producer Min is talking to me! You're so cool.” He can't help but to laugh at how someone as normal as him can have an effect like this on others. Yoongi knows that now he has to greet Seokjin and the person who he has tried to get out of his head for the longest time. He subtly peers around for a while and sees the two having the time of their lives, bursting into fits of laughter and slapping each other playfully. It is almost like the younger is actually trying to ignore him. I should just take off! In the midst of his insides burning with jealousy, he notices how Hoseok shoots an almost scary glare at him. He replies to it with a shrug of shoulders and decides to move past it for the time being. He doesn't have the capacity to think about his friend right now, because all he can focus on is a certain someone laughing in his adorable way. He turns to the side and takes a few steps forward. ”Hello Seokjin hyung!” Yoongi nods his head in the older's direction before looking down and

letting out a hesitant cough. ”Jimin. Good to see you.” His whole body immediately tenses up as he wonders what to do next. He glances at Namjoon and then at Hoseok who still looks extremely upset for some reason. He can't bring himself to make eye contact with the younger and there is a torturing silence that seems to last for actual light-years. ”Mister Min, nice to see you too.” Jimin says all of a sudden, but almost right away slumps down timidly and Yoongi has a bad feeling about what is about to come next. ”Uhm.. Could we-" The younger stutters, clearly struggling to find the right words. "Can I talk to you in private?” Of fucking course! Yoongi knew this would happen. It really doesn't come as a surprise that Jimin wants to talk. Yoongi is unravelling on the inside as get the hell out of here mode activates in his brain. By some miracle he is able to collect himself and finally lifts his gaze, hands clenched into tight fists. ”Yes, no problem.” Seokjin looks at both of them with a very confused look, but then just smirks without saying anything and moves past them to talk to the others.

”So, what did you have on your mind?” Yoongi naturally knows exactly what it is. He nevertheless still has a tiny sliver of hope that Jimin has forgotten about everything and just wants to talk about something related to work. They are standing quite far away from each other next to the elevator. It is still relatively noisy, but the rest of the guests are too busy enjoying the party to pay attention to them. "Well, this might be completely inappropriate and I probably shouldn't even be asking you." Jimin says, almost whispering. And just like that everything that Yoongi was thinking a minute ago —not wanting to have anything to do with the other— just disappears and is replaced by the familiar fluttering feeling that he always tries to suppress. He can't believe that Jimin might actually be the one to take the first step. "Oh, I'm sure it's fine." "I hope so. Anyway, this thing has been on my mind for a while and I was wondering if you-" "Yeah, what is it?" Yoongi cuts the younger off impatiently, craving to hear the words he has been wanting to hear since forever. He looks around, making sure they are still going unnoticed by everyone else. "Could you maybe give me the number of that producer that works in the studio next to yours?" What!!! Yoongi's jaw drops in shock and he loses his balance for a few seconds, feeling like he was just slapped in the face. This certainly was the last thing he was expecting. Jimin is looking at him with a slightly amused expression and grabs his arm, the contact making the whole situation much worse. Why the hell would he want his number!

"I know I could've just ask him myself, but I've never talked with him, so I thought it would be easier if I got his number from you, because I really have something important I need to speak to him about and hoped you wouldn't mind although you obviously do mind." Jimin blurts out before laughing awkwardly and scratching the back of his head. "For some reason." Yoongi really doesn't know how to react, a million things racing through his brain. "Oh, sure. I'll send it to you right away." While going through the contacts in his phone, all he can think about is why on earth the other would need to contact the producer. If it had anything to do with music, Jimin would surely just have come to him. And it can't be related to work, because they have never talked to each other. Actually Yoongi didn't know the younger had even seen his friend before, because he rarely comes by the studio. He really wants to ask, but instead just laughs at himself for being so dumb and deluded; Jimin doesn't want anything with him and never will. He needs to get out of here right now and presses the elevator button. "All done. Think I'll head home. Can you tell the others?" He looks at Jimin who just nods at him. Yoongi steps inside, sighing in relief that he made it through the party. Yes, his pride was just crushed, but at least he was stopped before revealing any of his inner thoughts that he will gladly keep hidden from the younger. Just as the doors are about to close, Jimin lets out a groan, sticking his arm in between them. "Hell, no! You're not getting away with it this time!" The younger scoffs and steps in, shoulder lightly brushing against his. The elevator starts moving and right now Yoongi would rather be absolutely anywhere else except here. The younger clears his throat a couple of times and turns to face him. "Considering you've been avoiding me these past few weeks, even more than normally, you obviously don’t want to talk about it. But I can’t stop thinking about why you came over to my apartment the other day. I can't move on.” And Yoongi is done with himself, he is done with Jimin and he is done with the whole entire universe; he could explode from all the feelings that are rushing through his body and all he wants to do is to dig a hole in the ground and hide in it forever. No, he really doesn't want to do this right now. But then again, yes he does. ”What do you mean you can’t move on?” he says, trying to sound like he isn't melting. In reality, what he meant to say is that he has not stopped thinking about the other either. ”Please don’t act like that. We both know that something is still going on between us, it never went away.” It didn't!?!? Jimin sighs and continues speaking. ”To be honest I've never had any idea what it is, but there's just one way to find out. It's about time we cut the bullshit and made a decision. I can change departments or you can even fire me. Or we can stop pretending and see if it works. If we work.” Yoongi feels dizzy, head pounding and the tips of his fingers tingling as he just stares into nothing. He was shocked by how a few minutes ago Jimin asked for his friend's number, when he thought the younger was going to come clean about his feelings. Now Jimin is actually doing that and he is completely floored, in a good way of course. Is he really saying what I think he's saying...

”You know, you have to say something.” The younger chuckles, softly touching the palm of his hand. He closes his eyes briefly, trying to clear his thoughts and looks the other in the eyes with a shy smile. He is taken over by an intense need to touch him, be closer to him. They are almost on the bottom floor, but then out of nowhere the doors open and half a dozen people crowd the elevator. Yoongi is forced to back into the corner of the tight space and he certainly got what he wanted. Jimin practically gets flung on top of him which causes his whole body to stiffen, hands stuck in between them, almost acting as a barrier. Jimin's cologne is absolutely mind-numbing and he can't help but to imagine what he would do if they were alone right now. Without even thinking about it, he grazes Jimin's nape before slowly sliding the hand down along his spine. The other immediately flinches, letting out a silent gasp, which startles Yoongi. Maybe he went too far. He lowers his arm in panic, but not even a second later Jimin steps slightly backwards and presses himself flush against him while moving his fingers across the side of Yoongi's thigh. F-fuuuck! The elevator finally comes to a stop and the people flood out, leaving the two frozen still for a while. It felt like they were in there for forever and being that close to Jimin was absolute torture, even a little painful. Then the younger turns around to face him, eyes hooded in the most challenging manner and tongue licking the corner of his mouth. Yoongi doesn't have time to even start trying to process what is happening right now, when Jimin grabs him by the wrist. "Let's go!"

Jimin and Yoongi step into the the lobby of Jimin's apartment complex, both coming to a halt by the elevator before going in. Apparently elevators are the theme for today. The whole taxi ride home he could sense Yoongi glancing at him and when he was sure the other was facing the other direction he did the same. It was extremely thrilling to sit so close, but at the same time so far from each other, unable to touch. In order to actually touch the older, the idea of moving into the middle seat flashed his mind, but when their eyes met a couple of times, Yoongi's expression had something that reminded him of the past and that was already too much for him to handle. As soon as the doors of the elevator close, Jimin senses the older's finger brush up against his palm which makes him tense up. Although they are barely touching, it burns as if he was playing with fire, both literally and metaphorically. "Yoongi..." He whispers, trying to figure out what is going on. Then suddenly Yoongi turns him to the side so that they are facing each other, pulling him closer while intertwining their fingers. The burning sensation intensifies, radiating throughout his whole body; up his arms, chest, stomach, thighs and all the way down to the tips of his toes. Jimin opens his mouth to question the older, but can’t say anything, because without a warning the warmth from Yoongi's breath hits him, soft lips pressing onto his. The other doesn't hold back one bit as his tongue immediately starts licking at his mouth, but Jimin just stands there, eyes open and mind blank. The thing is, it isn’t the first time this is happening. One evening him and Yoongi were working late, sat in the office going through upcoming meetings and events. It was pitch-black outside and everyone else had already gone home. Jimin was more than ready to leave as well, glancing at his wrist watch impatiently. At some point the atmosphere took a turn and they couldn't keep their eyes away from each other. He remembers how then all of a sudden he felt the same warm breath on his neck as he reached out to grab a document from the Yoongi's side of the desk. The same fire, when their hands interlocked. And the same lips after giving in on his desires and the tension that had been building up overtime. Jimin is brought back to reality, when he feels Yoongi’s wandering hands slip under his shirt, softly caressing the muscles in his back. There isn’t a fibre in his body that doesn’t crave to succumb just like two and half years ago. "Oh, how I missed you." Finally he starts leaning into the kiss, eyes now closed tight. His fingers start scratching the back of Yoongi's neck before making their way up to caress the other's silky, gray hair. The elevator is filled with muffled moans as the older pushes him against the mirrored wall quite aggressively. Jimin hates they way Yoongi always acts like he owns him, but right now he is without a doubt enjoying the feeling of being under the older's control. In the blink of an eye they are inside Jimin's apartment, going at each other like never before. Yoongi starts lifting the hem of his shirt and yanks the piece of clothing off in one fast movement.

Yoongi starts lifting the hem of his shirt and yanks the piece of clothing off in one fast movement. The cold air hits his bare chest, making him shiver, but he forgets all about it when suddenly he is being hoisted up onto the breakfast bar. He automatically winds his legs around Yoongi as the older presses wet kisses on every inch of his upper body, leaving behind a trail of red and purple marks on his skin. Then an unsettling thought hits him. "Are we actually doing this?" Jimin mutters quietly in between groans, not backing away from the older. He has been absolutely dying to do this ever since the last time they were together. Nevertheless —despite being caught up in the moment— he can't help wondering if it is such a good idea to go through with this after all. Sleeping with his boss would make things way too complicated again. Yoongi pulls away for a second, panting heavily, and squints his eyes. "You don't want to?" "N-no believe m-e, I do, but-." He stutters, head thrown back. He can't finish his sentence as the doubts in his mind are erased by the feeling of the older sucking on his neck while he simultaneously runs his fingers along the sides of Jimin's arms. Now the burning sensation is all concentrated in the pit of his stomach. Tracing his nose along his jawline, Yoongi pecks him softly on the cheek before coming to a sudden stop. Almost longingly, they look at each other in the eyes, causing Jimin to twitch at the tenderness of the other's expression. He could stare at Yoongi until the day he dies, but right now he wants more and reaches out to grab the older again. "Well, maybe we shouldn't." Yoongi pushes his hand away, taking a step back which leaves him completely stunned, desperate for contact. His bulge aching against his trousers, he looks at the older with utter disbelief. "Oh, okay. Maybe it's for the best." No, it's not okay! Jimin can feel his whole face blushing as he hops down from the counter. Yoongi is already at the door, about to open it, when he turns around. Jimin wishes he had the power of turning invisible as he realises that he is still shirtless. The older looks him up and down for uncomfortably long without saying anything, but Jimin can totally imagine that similar thoughts to his own are going through the other's mind. Why can't we just fucking do it! "See you on Monday." Yoongi utters, voice and expression void of any kind of emotion. As soon as the door closes, he smashes his fist against the wall, cursing at himself for opening his big mouth and ruining the moment.

It is Wednesday and Jimin hasn’t talked to Yoongi in four days. Not that he really wanted to, but them (once again) avoiding each other has made work a little complicated to say the least. They have been leaving sticky notes on each other's desks and Jimin has used a couple of his colleagues to run things by the other. Yes, the whole not talking thing is extremely childish and actually ridiculous, but it is quite obvious that the older also prefers if they stayed as far away from each other as long as possible.

This kind of a cat and mouse game is something they have been doing for years and he is really getting sick of it. Jimin thinks the fact that they are so different is the reason behind it; he is outgoing, lively and short-tempered whereas Yoongi is calm, a bit of a loner and likes to keep things to himself. For some inexplicable reason they can't be apart from each other for too long, but at the same time they also can't seem to get along for more than a few minutes at a time. It is almost as if they were the opposite sides of a magnet that are being forcibly pulled towards each other, but when they collide, the impact is so severe that it all just explodes in their faces. Or maybe Yoongi is an emotionless asshole —and always will be— who is incapable of having a normal human relationship with anyone. Jimin is in the middle of sorting through the calendar, when Yoongi calls him into the office. He paralyses in horror right away. He knew he had to face the older at some point, but would have wanted it to happen when he wasn't such a mess; he can still clearly remember the moment of Yoongi eyeing him up, practically devouring him with his gaze before just coldly taking off. Jimin bites his lower lip and taps his fingers on the table while thinking of what to do, but then shakes the nerves off and goes over. Opening the door, he is slightly taken aback. What is he doing here... "Hoseok!" He yells out, maybe a bit too loud. It feels like he walked in on something, because Yoongi and the man are standing surprisingly close to each other, cheeks a little flushed. Both of their expressions change, mouths drawing into straight lines, when they separate. The two just stare at him as he goes on, breaking the pressuring silence. "Nice to see you again. Congrats once more on the record deal!" "Thank you! Anyway, think I'll get going, let you two have your talk." Hoseok states somewhat nervously and Jimin continues to sense some very obvious tension in the air. After looking at Yoongi with stern eyes, the blond shakes Jimin's hand and quickly makes his way out.

"What was that?" ”Nothing. Come over here.” Yoongi says with an unfittingly neutral tone, while pointing his bending finger towards Jimin's direction. The older isn't really looking at him which he is already more than used to. His brows frown in confusion, head tilting slightly. ”Why? What are you playing at? I'm so done with-” ”Just. Come. Here. Now.” The other interrupts him, voice now deeper and raspier. This time he also turns his head and looks at Jimin with narrowed eyes, making something twitch inside him. Suddenly he doesn't have any control over his legs —it is as if they had a mind of their own— and without even realising it, he is standing right in front of the older. He isn't sure what he is feeling; he is kind of disgusted with himself for being so weak-minded, but on the other hand expectant to hear what Yoongi will say. He is also still confused as to why the other wanted him to come into the office in the first place.

”What do you want?” "Come on. You know." "No, I don't. If you're done, I'll go. What do you want?" ”You.” Just that one word is enough to take his breath away, eyes widening from bewilderment. Yoongi tends to be the dominant one in all kinds of situations, but Jimin has never witnessed him being this forward and demanding. The older’s expression is full of hunger, pure lust even. As much as the rational side of him is telling him to get the hell out, he can’t resist Yoongi. He never could; although the other has treated him like a meaningless piece of garbage, he is still willing to forget about it if it means they have a chance of being together. He is sure as soon as the older actually opens himself up, he will stop acting like a jerk. Just as he is about to lunge at Yoongi and kiss the life out of him, the phone rings. Jimin notices how the older takes a quick glance at his lips, clearly considering whether to answer the call or just ignore it. Next thing he just sits down in his chair before picking up the phone. He starts talking while waving his hand at him, mouthing for him to go. Who the fuck does he think he is!!! Jimin stands still for a while, face frozen in disbelief. Then he just turns around, exits the room and goes to his desk. When the shock has worn off, he gets up and walks, or more like stomps, back into the office. "Listen, dickhead!!" This immediately makes Yoongi pause and lower the phone. However, he just lets out a breathless laugh, shrugging his shoulders, and calmly finishes the call. Jimin is absolutely boiling on the inside, thinking how the other just keeps on ignoring him time and time again and how he keeps giving him the chance to do that. "Can you stop? I'm so sick and tired of being treated like I don't exist, like I'm air. I've finally realised you're just a big-headed piece of shit who's too insecure to fucking feel anything." Jimin gasps lightly, hands lifting instinctively to cover his mouth. Yes, he has obviously been really mad at the older, but didn't know he had this much anger pent up inside him. It feels like his thoughts and moods are just a huge contradiction, each complete opposites and clashing with each other. Looking at Yoongi who's head is down, instant regret over the harsh words takes over him. Nevertheless, he is done holding in his frustration and keeps going. "You pull me in and then just ignore me. Then you do it again and again and again. I'm sure you just love seeing me follow you around like some lost puppy." He scoffs before shaking his head. "Can't believe I thought you were done playing around." ”Are you done with your little rant? I have a couple of things to say to you too." Yoongi hisses, avoiding eye contact and making Jimin feel even more humiliated. "Really? Okay, this should be interesting." "One: Stop being fucking delusional. I'm not playing around and we certainly are not playing around. You’re my assistant and nothing more." Jimin just laughs at how incredibly stubborn and

in denial Yoongi is being. He knows for a fact that pushing him away is some kind of a defense mechanism. "Two: Find someone else to obsess over and forget about me." "Oh, don't think for even a second I'm obsessed with you." Who is he kidding; he is totally obsessed, so the older's words are actually starting to get to him. He isn't sure where all of this is coming from and thinks that he hasn't done anything to deserve this kind of treatment. "Let me finish, for fuck's sake! Three: I’ve come to the conclusion that I want you gone. I'll find another person you can work for." WHAT!! There are million things he wants to say, but instead just stays quiet. "And four: get the fuck out of my office!” Jimin can't breathe again. That seems to be a common problem whenever Yoongi is involved, whether it is in a good or a bad way. It feels like he is literally crumbling down, head slowly tilting downwards and knees about to give in as tears fill his eyes. He was not prepared for what he just heard. He thought being ignored was the worst thing imaginable, but no; this beats that by a long way. He glances at Yoongi who is just looking at him, face even and emotionless. He refuses to show the older how shattered he is and leaves without saying a word.

Jimin has been working from home for a week. He hasn’t been able to go to the office or see anyone. In fact, he hasn’t been able to go outside at all. Or sleep or eat or shower. All he has done has been making countless calls to organise meetings, booking plane tickets and hotel rooms and putting hundreds of old recordings and sheets of music in order. Yes, he actually dragged several boxes of material to his apartment, just to avoid running into his possibly soon-to-be-ex boss. His brain is switched off and he has forced himself to not feel or think about anything. Why does it still feel like his whole life is over? He wasn't supposed to fall for his boss and what is worst, he doesn't despise him after what happened a week ago. There must be something seriously messed up in him for him to always find an excuse for the older's behaviour. Jimin’s organising spree is cut short, when his phone rings. ”Hello?” It is an unknown number, making him think it must be a marketing company or something. All he can hear is faint breathing, so he almost hangs up. Then the other finally speaks up. ”It’s me.” Jimin gasps loudly as soon as he recognises the voice, heart immediately skipping a beat or two. He tries to say something, but his throat is as dry as a desert, so the words just get stuck. Trying to get a grip of himself, he holds the phone away from his ear for a few seconds before hearing the other talk again. ”Hey, are you there? I found a media exec that needs a personal assistant, so you can start with her

next Monday.” Yoongi utters, voice flat and passive, as if he was saying the most casual thing. ”Sorry, yes. Thanks. I’ll get my stuff tomorrow.” Jimin freezes, phone still pressed against his ear and stares into nothing, feeling completely empty. He didn’t think Yoongi would actually want him to move to another department, much less going through with it. He just said it, because he genuinely expected the older to finally admit his real feelings and for them to live happily ever after. The reality slowly dawns upon him, causing him to burst out into a sob and choke. He buries his face into his hands before wiping the tears away. He takes a few sharp breaths and continues on with going through the boxes, but it doesn't take him long to break down again. ”He actually fired me!” Jimin whines to himself out loud, collapsing onto the floor and kicking his legs in the air like a five-year-old that is in the middle of having a tantrum. It gets worse, because he stands up and starts screaming his lungs out in desperation. He really needs to take this rage out on something or he will explode. Before he knows it, he throws a lamp onto the floor, the glass shattering all over, and swipes everything off of the kitchen counter. He almost smashes the tv, but catches himself before doing it. Crashing onto the bed, he thinks that he has to stop crying over his idiot of a boss. The other doesn't deserve any more of his time. He starts cleaning the mess up, but is straight away distracted by a tape that had flown next to the mattress. It is a demo he recorded a couple of weeks ago, mainly to distract himself from all the shit that is going on in his life. Music is one thing that is sure to always calm him down and it was time to finally do something about his dream of becoming a singer. Out of nowhere the doorbell rings and he glances around; the room still looks like a bomb went off in there. However, he is too tired to care, so he just opens the door. Jimin lets out a little yelp of joy, forgetting how merely a minute ago he was crying his eyes out while trashing the place. He immediately jumps up to wrap his arms around the man. "Hyung! You have no idea how happy I am to see you." "What the hell happened here?" Seokjin exclaims as he steps inside after hugging Jimin tightly. "Don't get me started. I don't want to talk about it." "Okay, whatever you say. I came over to make dinner for you." While preparing the food, Jimin does end up talking about it, filling his friend in on what mister Dickhead had done. Seokjin totally loses it and makes him swear to never again give Yoongi another chance. They eat and talk until small hours of the night and end up falling asleep next to each other on the bed.

It is the next day and Jimin is in the staff room, poking at his food which went cold 15 minutes ago. He is absolutely dreading the rest of the day, because he has to confirm whether Yoongi is able to do a meeting concerning a possible brand deal. There is nothing he wants less right now than to talk to the older.

There is another thing; this is his last week working for Yoongi. He feels a little better after having spent time with Seokjin last night, but he can't lie to himself. He is still absolutely broken over the reality of having to forget about Yoongi. The fact that even just the idea of not seeing the older breaks his heart makes him feel even worse. Or more like furious at himself. He is also furious at Yoongi; so much so that at this moment he can't stand the sight of the older. It is not like he himself hasn't said horrible things, but this latest thing —bashing him into the ground and then firing him— is just a big, rotten cherry on the cake of what Yoongi has done and said. He wishes he could just hate the older or love him; not the two things at the same time. "Sorry!" He hears after someone bumps into him while he is returning from lunch break. "Ah, Jimin-ah, it's you." "Taewon, what a coincidence. What are you doing here?" Jimin had always seen him around the building, but never really had the chance to talk to him even though his studio is right next to Yoongi's. After he asked the older for Taewon's number, it took him a couple of days to figure out a way to approach the producer. Then just one day he decided to go for it and they have been talking quite a lot for the last couple of days. "I had a quick meeting with your boss. I was actually supposed to have a word with you as well." Well, that explains it. Yoongi is good friends with Taewon and Jimin knows that they spend time together outside of work all the time, most likely going out drinking. "Yeah, we could meet up after work. Are you free?" "Yeah, I don't actually have anything tonight. Dinner?" The other say with a little smirk, one eyebrow arched suggestively. The gesture catches him off guard a bit, but the other is surely just messing around. He doesn't know Taewon that well yet, but he seems like the type of person who doesn't take things seriously. "Yes, perfect. I'll come over to your studio as soon as I'm finished."

Chapter End Notes

Wow, a lot happened in this chapter. Hope it wasn't too much. Yoongi really needs to stop taking off and being an idiot... By the way, I'm going away for two weeks, so there might be a little break. And as always, thank you for reading!

Chapter 4 Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes

Yoongi hasn't been able to stop thinking about what he saw two weeks ago, when he was on his way back to his office from the restroom. As much as he wants to forget, he can’t; the way Jimin was touching Taewon's arm was talking, joking and laughing with Taewon is etched onto his corneas and he has kept obsessing over it every hour of every day. Why did the younger want his friend’s number and why are they hanging out all of a sudden? Just the thought of the two together —whether it is something completely platonic or something else— makes him feel uneasy. In all honesty he could quite literally combust out of jealousy. But why is he even jealous? An exciting possibility is all him and Jimin have ever been. They most certainly are not exclusive, much less a couple, so he shouldn't be having these kind of feelings; like Jimin was only his and like Jimin didn’t have eyes for anyone else but him. Unfortunately Yoongi does feel that way and he has no idea what to do about it. More than once, he has considered asking how Jimin is doing, but then thought it would probably make things worse. He wants to give the younger some time. Time is what they both need. He is angry at himself —hell, he loathes himself— for hurting Jimin the way he did. What he said to the younger was beyond fucked up on so many levels. The minute he noticed how he was starting to feel something a lot deeper than just physical attraction he panicked. It was too much to handle. From his point of view the only way to protect them both was to just end it before it even went anywhere. He isn’t quite sure why he said all those things, because they couldn't be further away from the truth. He knows Jimin is far from delusional, because the sparks between them are practically visible whenever they are close to each other. Jimin is definitely more than an assistant to him, has been from day one. He doesn't want Jimin to forget about him. He wants the complete opposite; to be the only thing on the younger's mind. Firing Jimin is something he regrets and beats himself over every day. Yoongi is still baffled by how literally in a matter of a few seconds he went from wanting to rip Jimin’s clothes off to telling him to fuck off. He recalls the countless of times of being on the verge of giving in and just doing what he really felt like doing, but he has never been able to take the final step. For some reason he just can’t bring himself to show his real self to Jimin, or to anyone else for that matter. And then there is Taewon. They aren't best friends, but they do spend quite a lot of time together, sharing a passion for music and their personalities are also very similar.

The other has expressed his admiration towards Jimin —surely in a completely bromance kind of way— a couple of times while at the same time always questioning why Yoongi hasn’t made a move, seeing as Taewon is well aware of his feelings. 'Hyung, stop drooling after him and go for it already' is something he always says, making Yoongi unravel on the inside, because that is exactly what he should do. But now it might be too late anyway; looks like Taewon might have beaten him to it.

Hi T! Just wondered if you’d be up for drinks tonight. Have to get out of the house. Yoongi hasn’t left his apartment all day, opting to sulk and work on a new song at home. He hasn't really been able to concentrate at all, so he decided to see if maybe hanging out with someone would help him snap out of this slump. Taking into consideration the circumstances, Taewon probably isn’t the best option right now, but Namjoon and Hoseok are more than busy with work and he doesn't want to disturb them. He leans back on the chair, eyes closed and hands stretched behind his head, as he huffs out in frustration. I'm being so pathetic! He has never really been one to pine after anyone before, because why would he. But let’s face it, Jimin is all he can think about nowadays and he doesn’t like it one bit. Yoongi is deep in thought, but is startled all of a sudden and almost falls off the chair as a message pops up on his phone. Immediately bringing himself back up, he looks at the screen in excitement, a glimmer of hope of the message being from Jimin crossing his mind. Hyung, you’re alive! It would be great, but I’ve got plans already. Are you free at the weekend? Oh, okay. Yes, Friday is good. Perfect, see you then. Take care. This is probably only the second time ever Taewon is busy with something else and unable to meet up. And just like that, Yoongi is once again turned into a paranoid mess. What could Taewon be up to? Is he seeing Jimin? Are they together? They’re together, I fucking know it! ”Shit! I need to stop this.” He then scoffs out loud at himself, shaking his head in disbelief. ”When did I get this attached to him.” He can’t go on like this and decides to get a grip and at least try to move on.

”Oh hell yeah, I remember that night. It made me promise not to drink ever again. But here we

are.” Yoongi is bursting out with laughter, glass raised in the air. He is a little tipsy, but can feel himself relaxing already. It is good to be out, to get a break from his thoughts for the first time in a couple of days. ”What else would we do. To getting off our faces!” Taewon exclaims, clinking their glasses against each other. The two are out after work, waiting for a couple of colleagues to join them for dinner. For the past few days Yoongi has tried his best to immerse himself into work and it has worked surprisingly well. He has been productive for once and finished off two songs he was struggling with before. ”So, how has it been without Jimin? Must be weird to work with someone else.” Yoongi chokes at the mention of the younger. He shakes his head in frustration and closes his eyes for a second while bringing a hand up to his forehead. Why the fuck did he have to bring him up! ”No, it’s fine. Don’t really care who is it as long as the work gets done.” It obviously hasn’t been fine, far from it, but he just can’t admit to Taewon — or to himself to be exact— how difficult it has actually been. They worked together for five years and not having Jimin there has made him realise how much he in reality means to him. He misses seeing the other every day, hearing his voice first thing in the morning when he gets to the office, how he would laugh at the most random things. ”Sure…” Taewon chuckles while nodding his head sarcastically, making Yoongi look at him with a fed up expression. ”As shitty as I feel for saying this, surprisingly Jimin hasn’t said a word about you.” ”What!?! He's still spending time with you?” He yells out, immediately regretting the sudden burst of jealously. ”See, hyung! I knew you’d be jealous over him.” Taewon laughs even more as he pats him on the shoulder. ”There's nothing to be jealous about, though. We’re just friends. What the hell, I told you I'm seeing that girl.” ”Oh, I’m not jealous. Couldn’t give a shit actually. Go for Jimin-" He utters before clearing his throat in panic. "Or for that girl or whoever you like.” Apart from envious, he is extremely relieved. Unlike he thought, Taewon definitely isn’t into Jimin and that is the best thing he has heard in a while. And yes, he promised himself he was done thinking about the younger, but he can’t help but to wonder why the hell they are spending so much time together then… It is not like Jimin doesn’t have loads of friends already. Something is off about this.

Jimin has been working in the media department for a month now and he is happy. He can still remember the feeling of relief, when he decided about three weeks ago to forget about

everything that happened with Yoongi and start from zero. It obviously isn’t the healthiest thing to do, ignoring his feelings, but it was the only option as the older made his opinion more than clear. He wanted to focus on work again, because it has always been a kind of a safe place for him. It feels like it was yesterday, when he met his new boss. She is well over 50 years old, quite short and there are visible wrinkles around her mouth and in the corners of her eyes. From the very first moment Jimin noticed that her personality doesn't really go with her somewhat harsh appearance; her dark grey hair is without an exception tied up into a low, tight bun and all she ever wears are white blouses with black skirts and black high heels. However, there is a kindness in her eyes and her voice is very sweet and soft, some would say comforting. Jimin has never seen her in a bad mood or being rude to anyone. His first day was a bit complicated to say the least, as he was expected to learn quite a few new things. Being an assistant for someone working in media is completely different to what he used to do. As time has passed, Jimin’s first impression of his boss has turned out to be correct because she indeed is very friendly. She still to this day keeps complimenting him on his work ethic, makes sure that he has a proper lunch break and that he doesn’t work too much. A couple of times she has wondered why his old boss let him go which makes his stomach twist in discomfort. Only if she knew... Nevertheless, they get along amazingly well and he is really enjoying this new job; it feels like he is challenged in a whole another way. Jimin has also started enjoying his spare time. After a long period of isolating himself from the rest of the world, he is hanging out with Seokjin again and even joins the group for their weekly dinners. He really loves being around people and is grateful as Seokjin, Namjoon, Hoseok and Jungkook have really helped him cheer up. The first time he considered not going as he was sure Yoongi would be there. Yes, he is still at the back of his mind. However, for some reason the older hasn’t been around at all and hasn’t showed up to dinner. Someone that did show up last week was Taehyung. He didn’t really know why the big boss would come to a work dinner, but he was happy to see him after a long time. Throughout the night, Jimin noticed how Taehyung wouldn't leave Jungkook’s side; they were practically glued to each other, exchanging questionable looks every other minute. Jungkook kept his arm wrapped tightly around the other’s waist and it was like the only thing he saw was Taehyung who in turn tickled the younger under the chin a couple of times. As everyone was saying goodbye —despite the obvious closeness that night— Jimin was surprised to see the two leaving together in the same taxi, but in that moment he finally got it. Jungkook was why Taehyung was there. It is more than great to know his friend has found someone who clearly makes him happy. He wonders whether he ever will find someone like that.

Almost six months have gone by since Jimin started his new job. He finally is in a good place; he has great friends, gets payed more which actually allowed him to move to (slightly) bigger studio and just generally feels at peace. Most importantly he no longer has to stop himself from pining over his old boss every two seconds and imploding in the process. It is a sunny day and Jimin is at work. Nothing is out of the ordinary as he is proof reading a press release and sipping on some tea. Then his phone goes off. The exact moment he reads the messages his whole world comes crashing down. He stares at the screen, eyes wide open, heart racing in his chest, and immediately starts hyperventilating. It feels as if he was underwater, about to drown any second. The lack of oxygen is slowly making him lose consciousness as his whole body yells at him, telling him to get to the surface, but he is paralysed and just keeps sinking deeper and deeper into the darkness. Hi Jimin. Sorry to bother you after such a long time, but I found something of yours in my office. Let me know if you want to come get it. I'm available whenever. Jimin is slumped on the floor in the staff restroom where he ran straight after reading the older’s messages. His head is buzzing with rage, confusion and fear, but also memories, longing and curiosity. Why would the stubborn idiot contact him out of nowhere after half a year of complete silence? What did the arrogant hypocrite find that could be so important and why didn’t he just straight away say what it was? Why does he once again feel exactly the same as half a year ago, when he was last standing in the selfish asshole’s office? What gives the love of his life the right to mess him up like this after he finally had gotten his life together? ”Guess I’m not over him after all.” Jimin mutters to himself, thinking how absolutely pathetic he is being. I can’t go there. I can’t face him. It can’t be anything that important. His breath is finally starting to settle down and he feels a bit more calm despite realising that he just had a full-on panic attack. Jimin gets up and after washing his face goes back to his desk, wiping the corners of his eyes. He continues working, pretending like he didn’t just spend way too long on the floor of a seriously gross cubicle, practically dying. ”Everything okay, Jimin? You look very pale and serious.” His boss asks as he is preparing to go home at the end of the day. He puts on the best fake smile he can and nods, trying to avoid her gaze. ”Yes, don’t worry. I’m just tired. See you tomorrow!” Although trying his hardest throughout the day, he can’t ignore the agonising feeling in his chest. He is unable to stop himself from thinking about Yoongi and all the conflicting emotions that are invading his mind.

Jimin is walking along the hallway while greeting some of his old colleagues. He is almost at Yoongi’s office, feet dragging the ground, when he spots a rather frumpy, 30-somethingyear-old man outside by the desk. His desk. Well, the desk that used to be his. He doesn’t feel like talking with him, so he goes straight to knock on the door. It is the next day following the panic attack. After thinking about everything and changing his mind over and over again, he decided it was time to just get it over with and face Yoongi. As he enters the room he is crying and screaming on the inside, wishing he didn't have to be here. All he hopes is that he doesn't get bashed to the ground like last time. The memory of that day is buried deep in his mind and if he let it to come to the surface, he most likely couldn't overcome the emotions; he would do almost anything to not go through something like that ever again. ”Just leave it there, thank you.” Yoongi says, head still hidden behind the computer. It feels weird and unreal to see the older again after such a long time, yet he is doing what he is always doing. ”Uhm, it’s me.” Jimin says quietly. "Jimin!" Yoongi immediately lifts his gaze and looks at him as if he just saw a ghost, clearly quite shaken up. "Thought you were my assistant." He is trying to come up with something that would distract them both and also relieve his nerves. ”Oh yeah, saw him. You guys getting along well?” "He's okay. Your stuff is in that box.” Well, that didn't work. ”Okay, thanks.” Jimin says before huffing and biting his upper lip in frustration, trying to keep his composure. He walks over and grabs the cardboard box with trembling hands. As he is about to leave, Yoongi suddenly yells out. ”Hey, don’t go yet!” Jimin turns around reluctantly and looks at the older, waiting for him to continue. What the hell does he want now! ”How have you been?” ”Are you serious? Doubt you care about me in the slightest!” He scoffs, voice raising a little too much. ”I do actually, Jimin. More than you know.” He is completely taken aback by the words, panic starting to creep up. He wasn’t expecting Yoongi to really say anything to him, much less this. ”Please. You need to listen to me for a sec.” Jimin gulps loudly as the older gets up and approaches the door where he is standing, looking him straight in the eyes. He has definitely lost the little composure he was trying to hold on to earlier; an urge of running far away is pounding inside his head. A thousand scenarios cross his mind as

he wonders about what the other is going to say. ”I know I should’ve said this much earlier, but better late than never, right?” Yoongi says apologetically, raising his shoulders slightly. ”Okay, and…?” Jimin can’t help but to roll his eyes at the other as he is trying his best to not show how blown away he really is right now. He has no idea where all of this is stemming from, but in a way he is enjoying seeing Yoongi this vulnerable. ”Well, just wanted to let you know that I’m so grateful for all your help throughout the years, I couldn’t have asked for a better person to have by my side. I really value all the hard work you’ve done and how you’ve put up with me. I can be a real jackass sometimes.” Yoongi utters, letting out a faint laugh. His eyes are full of softness which is very rare for him. Jimin is left speechless. ”I don’t know what to say.” This most certainly was the last thing he expected. He hasn’t heard anything from the other for months and now he is thanking him, telling him how much he appreciates him. And apparently the older isn’t even close to being done yet. ”Don’t say anything right now.” Yoongi says abruptly with a certain determination in his voice. Then he lowers his head and seems apprehensive for a second before continuing, voice now low and fingers fidgeting nervously. ”I’ve been thinking everything through and maybe, but of course only if you want to, we could try, you know.. And I know there's so many things we or mainly I need clear up before jumping into it, but I would definitely like to at least give it a chance.” Jimin is even more speechless than a minute ago and feels like screaming again, but this time out of utter confusion. Yoongi can’t actually be suggesting that. He didn’t want this; he wanted definite closure, to close the door on their shared past and hide the key somewhere where it could never be found. As much as it hurts. He has been so feeling so comfortable by himself and now out of nowhere he is back to square one. He can't believe he is once again imagining what it would be like to wake up next to the older every morning and fall asleep in his embrace every night. Then he realises the other must be saying all of this to just spite him, to play with his feelings. Yoongi is looking at him, obviously expecting some kind of a reaction. ”Uhmmmm…” No words are coming out of his mouth, simply because he isn’t even able to string two coherent thoughts together right now. They stare at each other for a while and then Jimin feels something exploding inside. "What the fuck do you want me to say, Yoongi!"

Anger and bitterness cloud Jimin's mind in a matter of seconds and he quite literally blows up. ”What the hell is wrong with you?!?! Why do you always act like this? We haven’t seen each other in months and out of nowhere you ask me to come to your office and tell me you want to give it a chance? What it? Can you be clear for once in your fucking life!?" Yoongi is looking at him with a completely expressionless face and it feels like Jimin was in front of a stone statue. A statue that will never answer or show any emotion. He on the other hand is struggling to hide how worked up he is right now; unable to catch his breath, head pounding and whole body numb, but also shaking uncontrollably. Then his sight gets blurry, causing him to shut his eyes tightly for a second as his brows furrow in rage and frustration. Jimin has hit his limit. He is done holding back. He is in fact dying to let out everything that he has been holding inside for the longest time. "Are you seriously that unbothered about everything?" He asks with genuine concern before letting out a breathless laugh. Despite not knowing why or how, he is feeling a little more calm. "I'm not unbothered." The older says while nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders, the gesture totally contradicting his words. He goes back to his desk and sits down. It doesn't surprise Jimin that the other is playing one of his games, once again. "I can't bring myself to understand what you get from all this? You go from hot to cold in seconds and then back to hot. You've been doing it for years and I can't take it anymore." "I know and I'm-" Yoongi sighs before being cut off by Jimin. "No, I don't want to fucking hear it! You started playing with me the moment you hired me. To be honest, can't deny I didn't enjoy the tension it created between us, but enough is enough. And then you outdo anything you've ever done by shattering my heart and removing me from your life. And to top it all off, you want to give it a chance. Fuck you!” He screams, all worked up again, voice unusually grave and dangerous. He can feel his face burning up. ”C-calm down.” Yoongi utters while practically jumping up from his chair. He reaches out a hand to touch Jimin's forearm, but without even thinking about it he slaps it away. ”Calm down?! How the hell can I calm down, when I have to look at that smug face of yours. I know you don’t give a shit about me or anyone else for that matter!” Apparently that finally lights something up in Yoongi, because his expression immediately darkens. The older takes a step back, letting out the longest sigh ever. ”Oh trust me, I give a shit. You have no idea what I’ve been going through since we last saw each other." The older says, voice breaking. "And yes, there's no excuse, I treated you absolutely

horribly. It's been eating away at me and not a day has passed that I haven’t regretted not telling you how I really felt. Feel.” Jimin huffs loudly and clenches his fists. He holds himself back from saying something way too hurtful. ”Please understand. Jiminie, I’m so sorry.” Yoongi practically whispers before lowering his head as a little sob escapes his lips. The older very rarely opens up like this and he isn’t sure how to feel about it. Both of them stay silent for a few seconds while Jimin scans Yoongi’s face. He can’t help but to still think this is all an act. He has been fucked with so many times, that he doesn't believe anything the other does or says is sincere or real. ”Don’t try to manipulate me, Yoongi.” He scoffs, raising his voice again. ”I can see right through you, so you can cut it off. I don't buy all this bullshit you're trying to feed me.” Jimin doesn’t even look at the other as he turns around and storms off. Once he gets to the elevator, tears start rolling down his cheeks. He knows well enough not to believe that Yoongi is actually being genuine, but that doesn't mean turning him down didn't feel like his heart was being ripped out. As he is about to step inside, a hand touches his shoulder. ”Damn it Yoongi! Just leave me alone already.” The elevator doors close right in front him. He takes a deep breath before turning around and it indeed is Yoongi. He can right away see tears in the older's eyes. The look on his face is something Jimin has never seen on him; eyes glassy and half closed, lips pursed tightly together, forehead in a frown. He looks completely broken and Jimin can feel a sudden, stabbing throb in his chest. What if he actually means it this time. He tries to get it together as the older wipes away his tears and starts speaking. "How can I convince you that I really, truly need you in my life?" "You can't." Jimin says with a cold tone of voice, causing Yoongi to close his eyes for a little while, probably to keep himself from crying. He genuinely doesn't know what it would take for him to be convinced. "I can't justify anything, but all the fucked up things I've done are due to insecurities and past experiences that I don't want to go into right now. The point is, I really struggle with showing my real self to anyone." "Right..." Then Jimin just stands there in silence, gulping down the lump in his throat. He gets tense as Yoongi lifts his gaze, eyes so intense that it feels like he is in his mind, reading his thoughts. "But you need to know that for the first time in my life I'm more than ready to reveal the real me. To you. If you're willing. You are so extremely special and in the future I promise to treat you the way you deserve to be treated, whether we're together or not." ”Thank you!” Jimin yells out almost instinctively, startling the older who's mouth slightly parts in disbelief, the crinkles disappearing from his face. He moves forward, slowly getting closer and closer to Yoongi before grabbing him into a snug hug. Without one bit of hesitation the other wraps his hands around Jimin's waist, squeezing

tightly, like it was the only thing he needed in the world. They stay like that for what feels like an eternity. ”Really, thank you for explaining. And it's okay, I can understand maybe why you're such a dickhead.” Jimin laughs after letting go. "Ha ha, funny." Yoongi grins, but then his face literally lights up, eyes full of adoration. "You have no idea how happy that hug made me!" Shit! I'm so, so sorry. Jimin leans back to push the elevator button. ”But Yoongi... unfortunately I have to be the dickhead now. I think we both need to figure out what we really want in life. By ourselves.” He isn't sure if not being together is the right thing to do, because he wants to be with Yoongi so much that it hurts. However, he can't jump into something without thinking about it. He was hurt so badly and he can't forget about it all just like that. Unable to bring himself to look at the other, he pecks him on the forehead and steps into the elevator. ”Okay, if that's what you want.”

Jimin is texting with Taewon, but is interrupted, when he senses someone standing beside his desk. "Hello Jimin. How come are you still here? Is everything okay? I've noticed that you've been kind of absent lately." His boss says with a voice full of compassion. "I'm here in case you ever feel like talking with someone." "Oh, Mrs Kang. I'm fine, really. Appreciate your concern a lot, but I don't want you to worry about me." "But I can't help being worried." She says —sincerity evident on her face —before smiling softly and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder for a few seconds. "You always overwork yourself and we don't want you to get too tired, do we? All of this will be waiting for you tomorrow as well." The words instantly fill Jimin with incredible warmth. This is probably the first time ever he feels like someone cares about him, like someone is thinking what is best for him. He loves his parents and knows they love him, but both his mother and father have always been somewhat cold, even in his childhood. Maybe that is why he is such an extroverted —and admittedly clingy— person who needs endless attention from others and is eager to bond with anyone. Jimin is aware he should just go home, but it is not like something or someone was waiting for him there. It is once again late and almost everyone else has left the office. The darkness outside perfectly reflects how he has been feeling since last night as he stares out of the window, rain battering against it and the wind howling aggressively. Suddenly he snaps back to reality and feels like saying something, instead opting to simply look at his boss. Her mouth forms a straight line as she sighs deeply. "I know life can get hard, but it might help to let it all out once and a while. " She states, empathy

apparent in her voice. He is starting to feel emotional and tries his best not to tear up. Don't you dare cry in front of your boss, jackass. "Yeah, I guess... It's just something I can't really go into details about." "You know, my son has been going through a rough patch in his life, too. It aches my heart to see him suffer, but thankfully he is slowly getting better." "Oh, I didn't know you had a son." Jimin exclaims, totally surprised. "Yes, he is only...a couple years older than you. He also works in the music industry actually and tends to drown himself in work, just like you. So believe me, I know what I'm talking about." She laughs while winking. Then she leans down slightly, her face evening out and voice getting a little lower in volume. "You are strong enough to overcome whatever it is you're dealing with. I'm sure of it. You need to be sure too, Jimin, and fight." He can feel the corners of his mouth perking up a little. She really is such an amazing, caring person and Jimin can't believe how fortunate he is to have a boss like this. "Mrs Kang, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really needed this." He gets up and, without sparing it any thought, drapes his arms around her neck. After letting out a silent, panicked whimper, he pulls away and stumbles backwards. Why the hell am I hugging her! But she just chuckles and Jimin lets out a sigh of relief. "Sorry! That was out of order." "Oh Jimin, it's okay. You are so precious." She pats him softly on the top of his head before continuing. "Maybe you should take a few days off? Do something nice and relaxing that would take your mind off of things." "That would be nice. Thank you again. And I will fight." That is exactly what Jimin ends up doing. He visits his family and spends an amazing, soothing week at the beach with them. Maybe in the end everything will fall into place; he is reminded that whatever happens, happens for a reason and everyone will ultimately find the right path for them. It might just take some time.

Yoongi has worked like never before, not being able to sleep properly. There has been this weird feeling bugging him. Sure, the fact that he broke Jimin's heart all those months ago and that two weeks ago it was his turn to get his heart broken is obviously on his mind, without a doubt. But there is something else bothering him; he doesn't remember the last time he saw Hoseok and Namjoon. Their friendship has always been an extremely important thing in his life. They are his only real friends after all. But in recent months he has slowly been drifting apart from them and they have only hung out a handful of times. To makes things worse, the times when the trio did get together, the atmosphere was a little awkward, as if something had changed between them. He knows the blame is totally on him. He

hasn't really had the time —or the energy— to spend time with people. The rappers were also more than occupied with work, touring around Asia and America while simultaneously writing and recording their album. On a couple of occasions they have ran into each other at the office. Namjoon was his typical, chill self. Hoseok on the other hand acted very weirdly, avoiding eye contact with him, barely saying a word. It is more than obvious that his friend is avoiding him, but he has absolutely no clue why. Perhaps the other got upset about something he said or maybe his distantness is the reason. He is about to go get lunch at a near-by cafe, but then gets the idea to call Hoseok and ask if he would want to meet up. "Hey, Hope! How are you doing? Sorry for being out of touch." "Yoongi hyung!" Hoseok utters on the other side of the line. "I'm fine. Why are you calling?" "Well, I wondered if you feel like having coffee." For 10 seconds all Yoongi can hear is silence and he is certain his friend hung up on him. "Bro, are you still there?" A few more seconds pass and there is still no answer. Then Hoseok finally speaks up. "Sorry. Erm, okay. Where?" "I can come pick you up. Will you be ready in half an hour?" "Yes." "Perfect, see you soon." What the fuck was that! Yoongi throws the phone onto his desk, groaning in frustration. He really hopes to get to the bottom of what is going on with his friend. They need to talk things through, because he wants nothing more than to get him back. The last time Hoseok was normal so to speak was several months ago, the day he crushed a certain someone's heart to be exact. And now it hits him; just before Jimin came into the office, Hoseok was about to tell him something important. He can now remember the rapper's serious expression and how he moved about nervously. Out of nowhere Hoseok leaned in slightly, but practically jumped backwards, when the door opened and then left the room faster than lighting, face flushed. Holy shit, how didn't I realise this sooner!

"Two iced Americanos!" Yoongi goes to get the drinks and pauses at the counter for a while, feeling surprisingly nervous. He isn't sure how to bring up the subject to Hoseok without sounding like a conceited idiot. After having sat down, he shakes his coffee cup, ice cubes clinking against each. "Sooo..." Yoongi says, cheeks puffing up as he sighs deeply, and then takes a long sip through the straw. He notices how on the other side of the table Hoseok can't stay still, the inside of his lip firmly stuck in between his teeth and eyes all over the place except on him. He is very confused and

decides to simply cut to the chase, because he can't stand the uncomfortable mood anymore. "Hoseok, what's up with you? You've been fucking weird since forever. Did I do something to upset you?" The other slowly shifts his eyes to look at him, but doesn't say a word. "I'm sorry that I haven't been there for you guys. I really wanted to come to the concert last month, but-" "No, it's not that." "So there is something? What is it then? You've been either avoiding me like the plague or throwing murdering glances at me. I know I've been out of it lately, but everything that has been going on with Jimin has me totally spent physically and emotionally." Hoseok immediately straightens up and clears his throat. He seems even more uneasy than before, both of his legs shaking under the table. "Yeah exactly... Jimin." Hoseok huffs while moving his head from side to side. His eyes are hooded, in anger or annoyance or jealousy, but he is obviously bottling something inside and has been for way too long. Yoongi freezes for a second, contemplating whether he should really bring it up, but Hoseok obviously needs help in letting out his thoughts, whatever they are. "What about Jimin? Hope, you aren't jealous, are you?" That would totally explain his behaviour. "What the fuck, hyung! No, why would I be jealous over him? Or you for that matter?" Yoongi's suspicions about Hoseok possibly having feelings for him turn out to be false and he can't help but to feel relieved. He isn't sure why he even thought that, but his friend just has been acting so awkwardly around him that it kind of made sense. "Well, I just thought-" "No, it's nothing like that." Hoseok says, greatly amused by the thought. Then his voice goes back to being serious. "I just- I just don't think Jimin is, you know, the right person for you." "Wait, what! What the hell do you mean?" "Yeah, at least to me it seems like all he does is cause suffering to you. Based on everything that has happened between you guys, he doesn't really care about you. It hurts to see you withdraw yourself from the world time and time again after one of your guys' fights. I'm just trying to have your back." "Oh... That." Yoongi says, completely taken aback. He feels like shit and embarrassed for worrying Hoseok like this. "But Hope, I actually haven't told you everything, the whole truth I mean. It's not Jimin who causes the suffering. It's me. I'm so fucked up in the head that I push him away whenever we get even remotely close." He tells Hoseok about how around a year after Jimin had started working for him he was forced to reveal his vulnerable side. The younger had burst into his office and yelled that he wanted to resign, saying how fed up he was with the way he was being treated. The possibility of losing Jimin made him panic, causing him to blurt out that he liked the younger —as his assistant, that is — and promised that his attitude would change. Yoongi certainly did adopt a new approach. Every morning he greeted Jimin with a smile while making sure to drown him in encouraging words. He didn't want to treat him as a simple employee anymore and tried to show interest in him. He started giving little pats on Jimin's back or

slapping him playfully on the arm. It felt like they were becoming friends that could talk about anything. And not too long after it dawned on him —having had stared at Jimin for a minute nonstop— that he had actually developed feelings for the younger. It wasn't love, but it certainly was something he hadn't felt in ages. He scolded himself for having those kinds of thoughts about his assistant and it just got to be too much. He forced himself to turn his emotions off, to go back to being his typical, indifferent self. Then a few months later something unimaginable happened. One evening Jimin sort of confessed to him and he still remembers how he was dying to admit his feelings too. Of course he couldn't. "It's a pattern that has been repeating itself over and over again; a vicious circle that neither of us is willing to leave for some reason. I guess in some sick way we like suffering." Yoongi says, feeling good after having told someone the real story. "Wow, okay. Wow! That's a lot to process. The main thing that I can't understand: both of you have had feelings for each other since practically the beginning, right?" "Yeah, I'm pretty sure he feels the same." "I see. But you're still not together... Jesus, what's wrong with you two?" "I know, fuck. Please tell me what to do, I have no idea." Hoseok just laughs, but then asks Yoongi to look at him while flashing a knowing grin. "Yoongi hyung, I think you do. Just grow a pair and tell him the truth." "Well, I did tell him a couple of weeks ago. I even suggested giving us a chance, but he turned me down." "Try again! You just said that he most likely has feelings for you. You'll regret it for the rest of your life if you let him go this easily." "Yeah, I guess. Why is this so hard?"

Ugh, he doesn't have to be so close to me! The whole gang is hanging out at Taehyung’s apartment and Jimin’s heart is racing, his whole body about to catch on fire. Yoongi is sat next to him on the sofa, their sides flush against each other, and every time he tries to create some distance, the older subtly gets close again. "So when are the pizzas coming?" Seokjin exclaims, rubbing his stomach. "I'm sure they'll be here soon." Namjoon in turn yells from the kitchen. Jimin loves it whenever they all are able to get together like this. He even doesn't mind that Yoongi is there, except when he is this close. The older arrived a little later than the rest of them and as soon as the place next to Jimin was free, he quickly plopped himself there. All of a sudden the older gets up and for a fleeting moment rests his hand on Jimin’s thigh, instantly causing him to inhale sharply as his breath halts. Shit, he's doing this on purpose.

He looks at Seokjin, who is sitting on the floor talking with Jungkook, and slightly twitches his head to the side, hoping to get him to go to a quieter place to talk. He needs some emotional support to calm down. The older obviously doesn't get the hint, because he just mouths what and continues on with his conversation. Jimin is momentarily distracted from the storm that is raging inside of him, when Taehyung sits down behind Jungkook before gently grabbing the younger into his arms and kissing him on the temple. "Guys, stop being so gross. There's other people in the room, you know!" Hoseok says in between sneers while making an exaggeratedly disgusted face. "Oh, let them be. They're cute." Jimin coos mockingly, making kissy sounds at the pair. "Keep your mouths shut! If I want to shower my bunny with love, I will." Taehyung snaps before laughing and hugging his boyfriend even more tightly. "I'll fire the one who tries to stop me and this angel!" Jungkook turns his head to look at the other, eyes sparkling with admiration. "Tae honey, the hyungs don't need to see how whipped you are for me." That cracks everyone up, Jimin included. He can't believe how the youngest makes Taehyung act and talk in such a sappy way. However his smile drops as soon as he spots Yoongi approaching him again. "Hey, T!" He yells after shooting up from the sofa, sensing Yoongi's eyes on his back as he makes his way to the kitchen where Namjoon and Taewon are preparing some snacks. He has got really close with the producer in recent months and after introducing him to the group — baffled by why Yoongi hadn't done it before— he has been hanging out with them quite often. "We'll go to the studio tomorrow, right?" "Yes, definitely. Can't wait to start the actual recording." Taewon replies, content while munching on some crips. At last the pizzas arrive and everyone gathers around the table. "Cheers, guys! Thanks for coming over." Taehyung says with a beaming smile on his face. Jimin is finally able to loosen up a little as everyone starts eating while telling jokes and dying of laughter without a worry in the world. Out of nowhere he feels someone brushing up against his foot under the table. He can't be doing this shit again! For a quick second his eyes shoot to Yoongi's direction who is sitting across from him and he is 100% sure that it was him and that it was no accident. He tries to ignore the gesture although in reality that one little, practically nonexistent contact made him feel all kinds of way. Not even a minute passes and Yoongi does it again, this time for much longer as he nudges his foot against Jimin's repeatedly. He can't ignore that and again his gaze immediately goes to Yoongi; the fucker is looking down, but Jimin can see that there is a slight smirk on his face. He is also biting on his lower lip, an obvious attempt to try to rile him up. In all honesty it is totally working. Not sure what to do with himself, he starts talking with Seokjin, but tenses up again, when for the third time Yoongi touches the tip of his foot. He has had enough. He lowers himself a bit on his chair, reaching a leg out to lightly —or not so lightly— kick the older's shin. Yoongi lets out a little yelp, followed by a teasing chuckle, and Jimin looks at the other as if saying are you fucking

serious. When Yoongi glances at him, this being the first time tonight their eyes properly meet, it is like time comes to a stop and Jimin feels his insides melt into a puddle. He knows that he is a gone man.

Chapter End Notes

I guess this has kind of turned into slow burn, sorry. Don't know why I feel the need to drag it on :D Probably only a couple more chapters left though, so we'll have to get things going in the next one. Anyway, hope you liked it and thank you for reading!

"Seriously, another one?" Jimin asks one of his colleagues, sighing deeply and shaking his head. He has just returned from lunch break, but came to a stop once he got to his desk. On the table there is a huge, elaborate bouquet of different kinds of red flowers sitting in a glass vase, complete with a white ribbon that is tied to a bow. He received flowers last week too and can't quite wrap his head around the whole thing. "Yeah, a delivery guy brought them a couple of minutes ago. Isn't there a note?" "I really hope so!" Jimin says, stepping to inspect the bouquet and a little card does drop onto the desk from in between the leaves. To Jimin, hope you'll have an amazing day full of laughter and happiness What the hell? It said the exact same thing last time. No one has ever sent flowers to Jimin before, so this is something completely new to him. As much as they are a very pleasant surprise —so much so that he can feel butterflies in his stomach— it doesn't mean that he isn't a little anxious and confused. He has absolutely no idea who they are from or what they could be for. There is someone that pops up in his head, but he refuses to believe it could be them; there is no way that person would ever even think to do something sweet like this. It must be her. "Sorry to bother you, Mrs Kang." Jimin says quietly while peeking from behind the door. "It's okay dear, come on in. What do you have on your mind?" She replies instantly, wavering her hand in a welcoming way. "It's nothing important," Jimin steps inside, shyly playing with the cuff of his shirt. "but it's just that I've had flowers delivered to me twice, last week and today, and I was wondering if they happened to be from you." "Oh, really? How nice of an idea, but I didn't send them. You must have a secret admirer." A secret admirer is something that occurred to himself as well, but people don't send flowers or gifts just like that and he can't think of anyone —apart from that certain someone— that would have showed even an inkling of interest towards him or given any kinds of signs recently. "You think? Wonder who it could be." "Well, when you find out make sure to tell me, because I'm dying to know." Mrs Kang says with a wide, endearing grin. "By the way, it seems like you're doing a little better! That makes me incredibly happy." "Yeah, guess I am. It's partly thanks to you, your advice helped me a lot. As soon as I told someone how I've really been feeling, a weight lifted off of my shoulders." "That is great to hear! Lately I've been noticing a real positive change in Yoongi also and-" "Yoongi!?!?" Jimin yells out, his jaw almost getting dislocated from the sudden revelation, mouth

now hanging wide open. Right after that he freezes, realising who he is talking to. "He's your son?" Why didn't he tell me! "Yes, he is my son. You know Yoongi?" She asks while laughing, but then she seems a little worried. "What's wrong? You look like you just got the shock of your life." For a few seconds he stands still without saying a word as he is desperately trying to pull himself together, head spinning. His thoughts are an actual mess, because he isn't quite sure what to make of this all; so Mrs Kang is the mother of his previous boss who also was his could-have-been boyfriend which means that if anything had ever developed into something more serious between them, his current boss could have possibly become his mother-in-law. But then again if they had gotten together in the first place he most likely wouldn't have even ended up working for her. Jimin wants and needs to know more. However, he decides to do what he thinks is the right thing to do in this situation and keeps his mouth shut. Mrs Kang clearly has absolutely no idea about the real nature of her son's relationship with him and it definitely isn't his place to tell her. He feels relieved that he never revealed to her what —or more like who— has in reality been bothering him. "Oh, I don't know him. We must be talking about two different people." Jimin says hurriedly and practically runs out of the room. "Sorry, have to go! Thanks and see you later."

Later in the week Jimin is at the studio, having just finished recording the backing vocals to a couple of songs. ”What’s up, Jiminie? You never stop talking, but today you've barely said a word.” Seokjin laughs, one eyebrow raised in curiosity, and pokes his side as he steps out of the recording booth. Jimin himself recognises that he has been quiet, lost in a world of his own, all evening. For some time now he has been questioning absolutely every aspect of his life and it has been a struggle to figure out what the next step should be; maybe it is finally time to leave the assistant job behind and move on to bigger things, perhaps to another city or even to a completely different country. The only thing saving him from losing his mind has been music which makes him more and more convinced that singing truly is what he is meant to do. ”It’s nothing. Don't worry. Anyway, good to have you here.” He has been working in the studio with Taewon for a couple of weeks now and Seokjin, as an amazing vocal coach, has been helping as well. Even though the whole writing and recording process has been more than stressful and there have been times when he wanted to give up, this really is a dream come true. It hasn't sunk in yet that he is a few more weeks away from holding a completed album of his very own songs in his hands. "Jiminie, you have the voice of an actual angel. Every single track sounds incredible." Seokjin exclaims, patting him on the back. "I'm crazy proud of you!" "They really do, if I say so myself. You were really born to do this." Taewon says, appreciatingly nodding his head at Jimin who just replies with a simple thanks.

It is great hearing all this praise, even if it is only from his friends who in all honesty —despite being professionals— are biased. At the same time he feels a little embarrassed and even frustrated, because he knows he could do so much better; his vocal range would be broader if he practiced more, he would always stay on pitch if he concentrated more, his singing would convey more emotions if he let himself open up and feel more. His little moment of self blaming is interrupted, when Taewon suddenly jumps up, exclaiming. "Hey, Yoongi hyung could give us some really good input. Should I ask him to come over?" "No!!" Jimin yells almost instinctively before clearing his throat and lowering his voice. "No, don't. I'm sure he's busy." "Okay, chill." Seokjin utters and Taewon joins him. "Yeah, bro. Why are you so on edge?" He hasn't really had time to think about probably the biggest dilemma in his life. Everything was complicated to begin with, but knowing that Mrs Kang is Yoongi's mother takes the complicated to a completely different stratosphere. Also, he wants to tell Seokjin and Taewon why he has been so absent lately, but isn’t sure how they would react. Both of them of course know about his history with Yoongi, but they are oblivious to the fact that things between the two are actually far from settled. After being unable to really concentrate for the rest of the evening Jimin can’t hold it in anymore and forces himself to come clean to his friends. ”Hyungs, there actually is something. But it's really stupid and you probably won't even care.” He whispers, unsure why, because it is just the three of them in a sound proof room where literally no one else can hear them. Somehow he feels like saying it quietly will make it less of a reality. ”I've been a little lost lately and on top of everything I had a huge fight with Yoongi a couple of weeks ago and-” "What! He hasn't mentioned that you guys had a fight." Taewon says, leaning forwards, expression full of curiosity. Jimin snaps his head to look at the other, face crinkled. "What do you mean he-" ”Wait... with Yoongi?” Seokjin cuts him off. ”I thought you haven’t talked to him in months. Jimin, did you let that asshole snake his way back inside your head again?” ”Well, actually I-” Jimin's voice is noticeably shaking, but he is interrupted again by a knock on the door. The other two also go silent for a while before Taewon goes to open it. Jimin can feel his throat closing up as his whole body goes numb the second he sees who is outside. He swears he will pass out then and there. All he wants to do right now is to leave, to run as far as he can, to never talk to anyone. "Oh, Jimin. You're here too." Yoongi says, clearly surprised. For some reason Seokjin and Taewon both turn to look at his direction, causing him to instantly start coughing his lungs out. He is completely floored by the other’s persistence; Yoongi hasn't stopped sending texts practically every day after the get-together at Taehyung's place last week. Jimin thought he had made it clear that it would be best if they didn't see each other for the time being. He wanted to be sure that he had processed absolutely everything before facing him, but now he is here. Taewon — being definitely the only one happy to see him— jumps to hug Yoongi. "Perfect! We were just talking about how you could give us a hand."

Please don't stay! "Why not, I have nothing better to do." Yoongi says indifferently. Shit! The older stands outside of the studio for way too many seconds and despite not directly facing the doorway, Jimin can sense the other's eyes glued on him. All of a sudden Seokjin clears his throat very exaggeratedly —causing Jimin to snort in amusement, because he knows exactly how his friend feels about Yoongi— before Taewon lets out an awkward laugh. "Damn, does someone have a knife to cut this tension with? Hyung, why won't you come in!" Yoongi steps inside and without even realising it Jimin has backed himself up into the corner of the studio, trying his hardest to avoid any kind of contact with the older. He realises how nervous he is right now, twitching and biting the inside of his cheek, while having an inner battle whether to turn his head or not. He can't resist not to at least take a quick look and tries to subtly peek to the side where the other is standing. In contrast, Yoongi is being anything but subtle. The older is straight up staring again, but not in an intense way; he almost seems shy, head in a slight angle, lips curled into a smile that is barely noticeable, eyes peering from under his lashes. Jimin looks around and realises he is alone in this mess as Taewon and Seokjin are busy whispering amongst themselves by the computer, unaware of everything that is going on between him and Yoongi. Jimin then lowers his gaze, fixating on his shoes, but feels the need to briefly glance up once more. He can't believe that Yoongi hasn't stopped staring. He has probably never been this flustered before as a sudden surge of warmth races through his veins, causing his cheeks to go red hot, his heart to start thumping against his rib cage and his fingers to tingle as if someone was pricking tiny needles into them. Why is he looking at me like that!

Why isn't he looking at me! Yoongi can only focus on one thing right now; Jimin was stealing glances at him, trying to go unnoticed, but failing miserably. However, the moment their eyes met, the younger looked away immediately. He wants to know what Jimin is thinking right now. Some time has passed since their little —or not so little— confrontation and the conciliation that followed right after. Ever since then he has been messaging the other, trying to get the chance to make up for everything he made him go through. He might have been a little too persistent, but he needs to let the younger know how much he cares for him. And of course there was that whole footsie incident last weekend when Jimin spent the whole evening practically running away from him. Yoongi is snapped out of his Jimin-induced-trance, when out of nowhere Taewon practically shoves him down to sit on the little leather sofa that is by the door of the studio. He can't miss

how Seokjin lets out a loud, sarcastic snort while looking at him with eyes full of contempt. "Hyung!" Taewon shouts out, forcing Yoongi to finally pay attention to his friend. "We have been working on something you need to hear. Tell us your honest opinion, okay?" "Okay..." Yoongi is extremely confused on what this is all about. He came over to just see if Taewon wanted to hang out and now he is sat in the studio, asked to listen to something, Jimin a few metres away from him. Once the music starts playing, Yoongi's whole world is turned upside down. His eyes automatically gravitate towards Jimin who still has his head down, now gnawing on his finger nails. He can't help but to go back to gaping as he just sits there completely frozen, quite literally mesmerised by Jimin's voice. It is unlike anything he has ever heard before; sweet like syrup, warm like a sunny spring day, soothing like a hug by a friend. And the falsetto... He can't get over how the falsettos are sending chills all over his body, making him shiver multiple times. How can someone sound so pure and perfect. Yoongi is unable to tear his eyes off of the younger. He subconsciously leans forward, almost tipping over the edge of the sofa while hoping for the other to take notice of him. Towards the end of the song Jimin actually lifts his head up and the two look each other in the eyes with intensity. During those few seconds it feels like everything between them is back to how it once used to be. As soon as the music stops Jimin looks away and Yoongi is hit with the reality; the idea of them ever getting together again is just a fantasy. "So, what did you think?" Taewon says quietly, voice sounding a little uncertain, and turns around on his chair to face him before letting out a chuckle. Yoongi feels like a complete fool, when he realises that his mouth is wide open, a little drool dripping down from the corner of his lips. Whereas Taewon is calling his name in amusement, waving his arms and swaying from side to side trying to catch his attention, Yoongi can't ignore the fact that Seokjin hasn't stopped shooting disapproving glares at him. Just as he is about to ask Seokjin what his problem is Taewon coughs, again wanting to know what he thought about the song. "That- that was incredible." Yoongi finally sighs. He then feels the urge to stand up to get closer to the younger and starts walking slowly towards him. "Jimin... H-how.. why... I had no idea you could sing like that." Jimin takes a deep, shaky breath which causes Yoongi to pause. The younger is not looking at him, but then surprisingly lifts his gaze, directing it towards Yoongi and then the door. He is sure the other is planning on taking off and that is exactly what he does. Seokjin tries to stop Jimin by grabbing his hand, but he is already out of the door. ”Wait for me!”

Once Jimin rushes outside through the back door of the office building he bursts out crying and collapses onto the wet asphalt. There is a flickering street lamp that is barely illuminating the dark alleyway and he wishes it would die down completely; he wants the whole world to go black.

He doesn't know why it feels like he was being crushed by something unbelievably heavy; there really isn't any reason for him to feel this way. Although they didn't exactly talk things through, he no longer has any bad feelings towards Yoongi. He was actually starting to think they could even become friends again. Apparently that is not case and after seeing the older he is back to how he used to be, completely unsure about what he wants. He is gasping for air as tears are falling down his cheeks like a waterfall, mind a complete blur. He can't control his emotions or stop crying which just makes him panic more. Out of nowhere, he feels someone's arms wrapping around his waist, pulling him up into a backhug. ”Breathe, it's okay. Just forget about everything, breathe in and out. In and out.” The words make him calm down a little, but it doesn't take even a second for him to realise that they are of course coming from Yoongi. Without hesitation he shoves the older away and in a flash anger takes over his anxiety. Yoongi softly clears his throat and approaches him for the second time. ”What do you think you're doing? Don’t touch me! Don’t look at me! Don’t speak to me!” Jimin snaps, voice harsh but low, and he can't prevent himself from tearing up again. "What part of by ourselves didn't you understand?" Yoongi doesn’t listen and embraces him in the most reassuring way possible. He wants to push him away again, but doesn't have the energy to do so. ”I know you don’t mean that.” The older whispers into his ear while stroking his hair and continues. ”I won't give up this time. I won't give up on you." "Stop talking!" "We have to stop lying to ourselves." "Shut up!" "Jimin. You and I both know what we really want.” That makes Jimin exponentially more mad, even though he doesn't even really know why he is this upset. Pulling away from Yoongi's arms slightly, he starts pounding his fists against the older's chest. He doesn't want to hurt him, but he doesn't know what else to do. "No!!! You have no idea what I want!" The older just stands there, taking the punches which, after a while, makes Jimin stop. He steps back and looks at the other; instead of rage, frustration is now what he is feeling. He doesn't understand. ”Why the hell are you just letting me hit you? Do something! You’re driving me insane! You-” Out of nowhere Yoongi grabs him by the wrists and stares him directly in the eyes, as though asking for permission. Then, without a warning the older plants a quick, gentle kiss on his mouth. While pulling away Yoongi lightly brushes a thumb across his cheek to wipe away the tears, a soft smile on his lips. Jimin freezes and the anger, the confusion and the desperation immediately melt away and the walls he has been putting up for months come crumbling down. He takes a broken breath as he comes to the realisation that he is too tired to fight against what he really desires. He doesn't want to fight himself anymore. All he can think about now is how much he missed those lips, the endearing triangle-shaped eyes and the way the older always peeks

through his grey strands of hair. "You shouldn't have done that." Jimin utters against the older's lips before kissing him again, the contact still as light as a feather. Nothing has ever tasted this sweet as the kiss suddenly starts growing deeper and deeper. "Oh yeah, you weren't craving for it?" "No, I wasn't." For once Jimin wants to be the one in control of the situation, to keep the other on his toes. He isn't going to let him have it so easily this time. He pushes Yoongi against the brick wall, but keeps some distance between them while just looking at him with hooded eyes. He then lightly grazes his finger against the older's lips before holding it there for several seconds to make him stay still. Okay, that should be enough. The alleyway is filled with heavy breathing the second he places his hands on Yoongi; one hand is running through his hair and the other is tugging on his belt. He hasn't felt this impatient in a long, long while. "Well, I was. I couldn't stop thinking about you. About this." Yoongi half whispers half moans as he pulls Jimin flush against his body, kissing him hungrily on the neck. "Why do you do this to me? How can you be so fucking unbearable one second and so irresistible the next?" He takes a bite on Yoongi's lower lip before stepping back, causing the older to groan in disagreement. "We can't do this here." "And why not? I dare you." Yoongi's mischievous grin is making Jimin even more worked up and the burning in the pit of his stomach is becoming impossible to ignore. As he is about to lower himself to unbuckle Yoongi's belt, the older flips them around —so that he is now the one touching the wall— and lifts him up against the hard surface. Just like that Jimin forgets about his plan to have control and obediently straddles himself around the older's hips, their bodies completely intertwining into each other, mouths not detaching for even a second. The surrounding world has disappeared and it is just the two of them, but then completely out of nowhere, like an ice cold shower, the door of the office building swings open. Yoongi immediately pulls away, causing Jimin to stumble onto the ground. "Oh, shit!" They both yell out in unison. Yoongi grabs Jimin's hand and, in between muffled sniggers, the pair runs off without checking who the person to walk in on them was. "You idiot! Told you we were gonna get caught." Jimin laughs while jokingly punching Yoongi on the arm. "That was the whole point, right?"

Chapter 7 Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes

The air is heavy, almost suffocating; every single nerve in his body can feel the effect of Jimin’s hands roaming all over as he slips his tongue inside the other's mouth, full of hunger. It is not enough. Despite being being straddled by the younger, Yoongi wants to be closer to him. A lot closer, as close as physically possible. After the exciting rush of almost getting caught, they decided to go to Jimin’s apartment as it is not that far from the offices. He hadn't visited the new place, but it is very similar, just a little more spacious. The whole situation seems surreal; not even an hour ago the other was screaming at him, crying his eyes out. Much like Yoongi himself, Jimin is not good at handling his emotions —never has been— and he is in a way relieved that the younger finally exploded and let everything out. It was necessary for them to move on. Things between the two are most definitely not sorted out yet, but the fact that Jimin’s fingers are sliding down his stomach to unbuckle his belt is all he can think about right now. He wants the tension to rise even further, so he slaps the other's hands away before pushing himself closer. Jimin runs his fingers through Yoongi's hair and tugs at it —the sting too good to be true— while simultaneously pressing wet, open-mouthed kisses on his collarbones and the base of his neck. It is all getting to be too much and he is overwhelmed with pleasure, torso arching violently against the younger. ”A-are you okay? Do you want me to stop?” Jimin says while faltering backwards and looks at him, confused and slightly alarmed. Flashbacks of a night several months ago spring to his mind; they were in the same exact position, doing the same exact thing. He remembers how scared he was, too afraid to admit what he felt for Jimin and refused to do so by coldly leaving the younger behind. However, Yoongi is no longer scared and won't be going anywhere. He groans, breathing heavy, and helps Jimin get down from the breakfast bar, grabbing him by the waist. ”No, don't stop, but let's go to the bedroom. Now.” "You know I don't have a bedroom, right?" Jimin chuckles into his mouth as they tiptoe their way onto the bed. Fire burning inside, Yoongi lightly shoves Jimin, causing the younger to land onto the mattress with a thump. He doesn’t hesitate for even a second before stripping Jimin's shirt off and places his hands on the younger’s taut chest. Legs clenched around his hips and arms resting on either side of his shoulders, he mouths and bites Jimin’s neck softly leaving marks all over. Out of nowhere the younger sits up and pushes him away, but to his delight it is only to undress him, tossing the button-down onto the floor in a hurry. ”Need your skin against mine.” Jimin moans, pulling him back down by the neck and Yoongi crashes on top of him. Blood rushes through his entire body, setting him on fire in ways he never though were possible. He can’t help grinding down on the other’s more than evident bulge and without even thinking his hands travel down Jimin's body to take the bottom half off. ”Can I?” He whispers against the other's radiating skin and brushes the soaked raven hair off of

his face. Groans escape Jimin's lips as he places his hands on top of Yoongi's head, pushing him down along his stomach, practically begging him to remove his trousers. With all their clothes out of the way, his brain goes totally blank; there are no barriers between them, exposed skin on skin creating friction that is mind-numbing. He settles himself in between Jimin's legs, first teasing him relentlessly. This feels totally different compared to the past. Every look, every touch, every kiss is heightened, the connection a lot more intense and deeper; it is as if their bodies were becoming one, every part molding together perfectly. Jimin looks and sounds totally wrecked; the grunts the younger is making just ignite Yoongi more and more. The burn concentrated below his waist is getting unbearable and as Jimin desperately starts moaning his name he knows, just like he himself, the other is close. "Ugh, y-yes Yoo- Yoongi yes." His brain and body go into overdrive and after several, sharp movements and some extremely labored breathing, the sweet release comes. His arms give in as he crashes on top of the younger and all he can see are white spots and shooting stars; a galaxy painted by them both. "Holy fuck Jimin!" "I know, fuck indeed. Wow." Jimin now resting against his side, Yoongi gently runs a finger along the tiny slope of his nose before trailing it across his lips, sharp jawline, along the column of his neck and collarbone, past his muscular shoulder and down his spine. He finally settles the hand on the younger's lower torso, drawing slow teasing circles on the small of his back. "Can I stay?" He whispers, exhausted but over the moon. Jimin doesn't say anything and closing his eyes, just squeezes him closer.

Yoongi has played this scenario in his head over and over again, but not even in his wildest dreams did he picture that waking up with Jimin would be like this. They have slept together on four or five occasions before (one time was after they had been drinking, so his memory is a little hazy on what exactly went down), but in the over five years of knowing each other they have never actually slept together until now. One or the other always ended up awkwardly leaving right after and there was one instance where Yoongi sneaked out once Jimin had fallen asleep. Like an angel. Hair all messy, sweaty skin glistening under a few rays of sun that are peeking through the curtains, cheeks blushed, pillowy lips in a little pout. "Why are you staring?" "Shit, you're awake." Yoongi mutters before clearing his throat in embarrassment as Jimin suddenly opens his eyes and stretches himself. The younger snuggles up to him, head now resting in the hollow of his neck, and he can definitely feel something fluttering inside. Even though doing and saying affectionate things goes against every instinct in his body, for some reason he can't help it with Jimin. It kind of comes naturally to him. "I can't believe someone like you exists and that I finally have you in my arms."

"What, hold up... Who is this kind and gentle man and what did you do to Min Yoongi?" Jimin says, voice still sleepy, feigning to be shocked and placing his hand on Yoongi's chest. "Babe, you're hilarious, but-" "Huh!?" Jimin yells out while lifting his head up a little to look at him, eyes squinted and mouth slightly parted. Yoongi rolls his eyes, because he knows exactly what the younger will say next. "You didn't- Did you actually just call me babe?" "You know, I'll take off, because you clearly just want to piss me off." He scoffs half joking, half serious as Jimin is more than enjoying the situation. "Really, Yoongs?" The younger questions in between giggles, eyebrow raised, making mocking kissy faces. Yoongi is hoping his fed up face would make the other stop provoking him, but after a while he gives up and lets out an amused laugh, because this is Jimin who can do whatever with him. Like a switch, Jimin's expression changes, sparkling eyes staring right into Yoongi's soul; each passing second peeling through years' worth of running from himself, rejecting those near to him, wondering what made him the way he is. He never thought someone would be able to break through to him, much less Jimin. Throwing jabs back and forth has always been their thing and there hasn't been a time when they weren't on the verge of ripping each other's hair —or clothes — off, so this kind of affectionate teasing and the longing looks are throwing him off big time. He is even more taken aback when out of nowhere Jimin with a huge smile boops his nose. "Boy! Leave me and my nose alone." "Never! It's the cutest thing I've ever seen." Jimin says determined and touches the tip of it again, rubbing his finger on it. "That's it, I'm going." "I don't think so. We both know you're staying right here. You can't bear being away from me for even a minute, because I'm your baby and that sweet little ass of yours belongs to me." That is 100% true, but he will never admit out loud how weak and fluffy Jimin makes him feel. And he indeed doesn't go anywhere, instead nudging Jimin's side and hitting him on the back with a pillow. The other almost gets propelled off of the bed from laughing so hard, causing Yoongi to also let out a snort, because no one is as disastrously clumsy as Jimin. It is one of his favourite things about him; how a person can be unbelievably graceful, but at the same time so unaware of his own body and the surroundings. The younger then rolls back over so that they are facing one another and looks at him, eyes big like the full moon and mouth in a subtle pout. No, not the puppy eyes! Yoongi wants to resist, seeing that people are waiting for him at the studio, but not even five seconds later he ends up pulling Jimin close again, arms wrapping snugly around his waist. For the next couple of minutes the two stay still in each other's embrace, only calm, steady breathing cutting through the silence. Their eyes closed and noses lightly brushing up against each other, Yoongi swears he is in heaven. It is almost as if he was floating above himself, falling in love with the sight of their bodies all curled up together, just enjoying each other. Then something comes to his mind and he wriggles himself backwards, so he can look at Jimin

properly. "Why the hell haven't I heard you sing? I was about to go into cardiac arrest, when the song started playing." "Oh, it's nothing special. You worship me, so of course you'd say that." Jimin protests, tone amused, but Yoongi knows that the other in fact really doesn't believe him. He can't comprehend how someone with so much talent and potential can be so insecure about himself. For once he doesn't want to make light of the situation and feels the need to reassure Jimin, make him realise how amazing he is. "No, I actually really mean it. Your voice is incredible. You're such a hard worker. You're always so kind and thoughtful. Baby please, you have to start having faith in yourself. Everything about you is so special." Cheeks flushing a deep red, Jimin softly nods his head before looking away. Yoongi presses a gentle kiss on the top of his head and the younger lets out a long hum —some would say it was actually a purr— while nestling himself against him even more tightly than before. Jimin's lips are hovering on his neck which sends chills all over. "Yoongi.." Jimin starts, voice faint and a little shaky. The younger's soft breaths keep tickling the sensitive skin right below his ear. "Promise that this time we won't drift apart?" "Well, you never now what will happen, but-" Yoongi is a rather pessimistic person, never really getting his hopes up, because that way he won't be disappointed. He takes things as they come and doesn't like envisioning what his life would be like in the future. However, it has become more than clear that he has changed in more ways than one; maybe it is Jimin's influence or maybe age has just softened him. Instead of being his usual rational self, he opts to comfort the younger, make him feel protected. "We won't, I promise." He whispers into Jimin's ear. He hates to break this precious moment, but nonetheless gets up and enters the bathroom to get ready, yelling. "Unfortunately I do have to go to work now." When he returns showered and dressed up, Jimin is still under the covers, eyes barely opened and hair still ruffled. "Hey, I'm off today, so see you at the studio later, yeah?" Yoongi hums in agreement and is almost out of the door when Jimin calls for him, making him turn his head back. "Remember," The younger utters before pointing his finger at Yoongi's backside, then at himself and then wriggling it back towards him while winking in the cheesiest way possible. "Mine. All mine." Letting out a breathless chuckle, Yoongi just shakes his head and clicks his tongue, eyes rolling back. "Yes, all yours. See you later, dork!"

Yoongi was bored in Jimin's small apartment and suggested one night that they could hang out over at his place instead. As much as he loves his cosy home, Yoongi's penthouse is something else and strangely he had only seen it once before.

Fast forward two weeks and the two have spent every moment they could spare with each other. Jimin is starting to feel at home and actually little by little started sneaking his stuff over; his toothbrush and other toiletries are now sitting neatly in the bathroom, practically all of his clothes are crammed into the side of the closet that was previously half empty and even a couple of his books are laying on a side table. Yoongi hasn't really said anything about the whole thing and Jimin isn't sure whether the other has even noticed. "Can you stop being so attractive!" Jimin groans while leaning against the counter, eyes glued on Yoongi who is cooking dinner. He should probably help, but he just can't stop looking. "Babe, I'm literally just standing here." Out of the blue the electronic lock goes off and the two glance at each other, freezing in panic. "Shiiit, it's my mother. Hide somewhere. Anywhere!" Yoongi cries out before hurrying to the door. His first instinct is to crawl into one of the cupboards, but then he realises that although he is small he isn't that small. Maybe he should face the situation head on and just go greet Mrs Kang. She wouldn't think anything suspicious was going on, right? After hearing steps, Jimin gets hesitant and presses himself against a corner while praying that the woman doesn't make her way to the kitchen. "Eomma!!" Yoongi exclaims exaggeratedly loud, as if trying to make sure Jimin hears him. "What are you doing here?" Struggling to hold his breath in, he almost bursts into laughter, when Yoongi lets out a loud 'no' from the other room, voice cracking. The older must be feeling extremely panicked and he is of course scared too, but this is definitely one of those situations where the fact that you aren't allowed to laugh or make any sound makes you laugh that much more. Also, it is totally absurd; he is crouched down in a kitchen that is not his own, hiding from his boss while his boyfriend Yoongi is dying to find a way to make her leave without seeing him. Great, we're totally fucked! Then he hears Mrs Kang wondering why she hasn't heard a peep from her son in days, emphasising that he could have at least sent a message. "Sorry, I've been busy." Yoongi utters, nervousness more than evident in his voice. This time Jimin can't keep the laughter in —thinking that he is the one that the older has been busy with— and a muffled snort escapes his mouth. "Oh, you're not alone?" Mrs Kang says in the living room. He can hear Yoongi mumbling something and only a few moments later Jimin's heart almost stops when Yoongi and his mother step into the kitchen. She is clearly confused, but simultaneously delighted. He can feel the tips of his ears blush from being absolutely mortified as he hurriedly stands up, biting down on the inside of his lip. "Jimin, what on earth are you doing here?" "Well eomma..." Yoongi starts, but pauses after Jimin shakes his head. He can't help wondering whether this is the right time to tell Mrs Kang about them; she would almost certainly take it well, but that doesn't mean he doesn't feel apprehensive. In case she did have a problem with it, he would most likely lose his job and he can't afford to take that risk. He will probably quit anyway if his album is a success, but it is always good to have all of the options open. Also, he

would hate to upset Mrs Kang in any way. Yoongi is looking at him, eyes inquisitive but comforting, while tilting his head downwards. The older then steps beside Jimin and directs his gaze towards his mother. "I don't know why I never told you, but Jimin actually used to be my assistant. That's why I recommended him to you." There is a deafening silence and poor Mrs Kang's expression is as confused as it can get. "Also, he's-" The older stutters, voice shaking. Jimin can't even imagine how anxious the older is right now. Letting his head fall down, he feels very conflicted; on one hand he is absolutely petrified to see his boss' reaction, but on the other it would be out of this world to finally stop lying about his feelings towards Yoongi. She has been completely silent since coming into the kitchen and Jimin can't bring himself to look up, unsure if the woman even is still in the room. There is a sick feeling in his stomach, but something clicks inside. He gets a sudden burst of courage —or maybe it is defiance—, still unable to look her directly in the eyes though. "Mrs Kang, hope this doesn't change anything between us, but there is something Yoongi and I need to tell you." He places his arm around Yoongi's waist, the touch making the older go rigid as his shoulders hitch up and arms shoot to his sides. They glance at each other briefly and nod, as if silently coming to an agreement. "Okay, here we go. Eomma... I'm with Jimin. I mean, we're together." Yoongi states, surprisingly determined. There is more deafening silence and all Jimin can focus on is how rapidly his heart is thumping, the extra blood making him lightheaded. Face blank, Mrs Kang takes a little step forwards and places her hand on Yoongi's shoulder. "Yoongi dear, in all honesty I am not surprised. I always knew you liked boys." She breaks into laughter and Jimin can feel how Yoongi's whole body immediately relaxes. He removes his arm and steps to the side, letting the mother and the son have their moment. She then shifts her focus to him, eyes full of softness. "I just had no idea it was this fine young man. Wish you would have introduced us earlier." "Yes Yoongi, why did you keep us from each other." Jimin says teasingly, causing Yoongi to elbow him in the ribcage. The other looks extremely uncomfortable, face, ears and neck all red, and although the secret is finally and thankfully out, Jimin understands he is still nervous, struggling to find the right words. "Actually... Hmm, we haven't been dating for long. It's complicated, I'll tell you later." Dating?!?!? We're DATING?! "I see. You've never been one to hesitate about anything, so Jimin must be special. Make sure to hold onto him!" Mrs Kang now teases, nodding her head at Jimin. It is as if they were a team, their only mission being annoying the hell out of Yoongi, in the best way possible of course. Apparently they are succeeding, because Yoongi looks so done and lets out a disapproving grumble to which Mrs Kang smirks. "Anyways, I came to make sure my son is safe and you clearly are, so I can get going." "Oh, would you like to have dinner with us?" Jimin asks, really hoping she would stay.

"Thank you Jimin, but I'll leave you two alone. Have a great evening!" They accompany her to the door and after sweetly smooching them both on the cheek, she makes her way out, mentioning that something might be burning. Yoongi curses under his breath as he immediately rushes to the kitchen to take the dinner out of the oven. "Your mum is the best, you know!" Jimin exclaims as he closes the door. "Yeah, I guess she is." Yoongi mutters from the kitchen. "I certainly wasn't planning on coming out today, but I'm surprised about how well she took it. What a relief." Relief indeed; they can finally be out in the open and more importantly he doesn't have hide things and tell lies to Mrs Kang. When he gets to the kitchen, a very frustrated looking Yoongi stands by the counter —breathing heavily and eyebrows in a frown— poking at the burnt meat. "We'll just order something, okay?" He laughs, pulling Yoongi into a hug. He hasn't stopped thinking about what the other said to his mother earlier, but is too scared to ask. Then as if reading his mind, Yoongi starts quietly speaking, head still resting on his shoulder. "Jiminie, what are we? I mean-" His voice sounds so faint, so delicate that it makes Jimin melt and he coos shyly. "What do you want us to be?" "Erm... Together?" Yoongi whispers as he pulls away while grabbing Jimin's hands into his own. Yes! We're dating! Holy shit, I'm dating Min Yoongi. Thankful he was able to keep his inner fan boy from getting exposed, he collects himself and kisses the older gently before whispering back. "Together."

At the end of the week Jimin's album will at last be ready to be released. He has spent all morning going through everything, making sure every little detail sounds exactly like he wants it to. Completely in the zone and immersed in the music, headphones blocking the outside world, there is a sudden tap on his shoulder. "You scared the shit out of me! Why are you home already?" Jimin yells out before turning around. He can't believe what he is seeing, literally jumping up from the chair. "Delivery for Park Jimin. Please sign here." Yoongi says while leaning forwards and pointing a finger at his mouth, lips puckered. In the other hand the older is holding a huge bouquet of red roses and Jimin has never been so flattered or shocked. W.H.A.T!!! "No way!" Jimin exclaims, mouth wide open and head spinning. "No way in hell it was you!!" "Guess you don't know the half of me then. I know I'm late as fuck with this whole treating you right thing, but it was time to actually do something. Should I be offended that you seem so surprised?" "I was way too excited about the flowers. Thought it was some secret admirer."

"Oh, thanks." The older huffs, crossing his arms and looking adorably sulky. "I should definitely be offended." "Hmph, who knew you could be such a romantic. I expect flowers every month now, just so you know." Jimin teases. Then he starts planting several little pecks on the older's cheek, temple, forehead and tip of the nose before moving down to the lips, the kiss slow but intense. Hating to leave Yoongi's arms, he takes the flowers to the kitchen, contently humming the melody of his first single. When he goes back to the living room Yoongi is sprawled on the sofa, as if calling for Jimin to join him. There is hardly any extra space, so he just plops himself on top of the older. Thanking him for the surprise and saying how much he loved it, he cups his face and locks their lips softly. As they separate, Yoongi looks at him, eyes so full of love that it makes Jimin's heart skip a beat. Or two. Or five. But can it really be love? Yes, they have known each for half a decade, but there have been times when Jimin was sure Yoongi hated him. And times when he actually did hate the older. They have been dancing around each other for so long that it almost seems like they just met not too long ago, even though they know practically everything about one another. Maybe it is just physical attraction or the need to be with someone, anyone. Then again, maybe it actually is love. Maybe they are soul mates. Maybe it just took all this time for them to realise it themselves. Draping himself over the older, Jimin decides to test the waters a little. "You know, I've been thinking." "About what?" "About us. How we spend practically every minute of every day together." "Yeah, I love that. I love having you here." "Aww, my little softie. I'm sure in no time you'll be falling in love with me." Oops! That kind of slipped out by accident, he didn't mean to be so direct. He buries his face deeper into Yoongi's neck as the other stays silent for a few seconds and it feels like eternity. This was a mistake, he shouldn't have gone there. It's okay if Yoongi doesn't love me yet, it's fine. "Well..." Yoongi starts before clearing his throat, the warmth of his breath hitting the side of Jimin's neck. "I think that has already happened." "What! Wh-what are you saying?" Jimin stutters. He is completely astounded and it feels like his chest will explode. This is something he has thought about so many times that he has lost count and now it is actually happening; Yoongi is about to finally confess to him. "I love you." Yoongi mutters, swallowing his words. They could barely be heard, but he knows exactly what the older said and he knows he feels exactly the same. "I love you too!" Jimin answers without even a second of hesitation. He is too flustered to be able bring himself to look at Yoongi in the eyes, instead just nuzzling himself against the older's chest. He can feel it rise as the other sighs in relief before grabbing Jimin by the cheeks and cupping them. Yoongi stares at him for a while, eyes slowly wandering all over before focusing on the lower part of his face.

"You could just stare all day, right?" "Yes." Yoongi says while nodding his head repeatedly, eyes not moving from his lips. The older then gently swipes his finger over them, making Jimin's entire body shiver. "Why does your mouth look like a big, juicy strawberry? It's not fair." Jimin thinks also his face must resemble a strawberry right now, cheeks surely a deep shade of red, as the corners of his mouth arch into a shy smirk. "Don't say things like that." In reality, he loves it when the older is like this; expressing his feelings openly, showing the sweet, caring side of himself. All of a sudden Yoongi starts sniffling and Jimin can see tears in his eyes which immediately chokes him up as well. But he doesn't want to cry, he needs to comfort the other. "Love, why are you crying?" "I just feel like an absolute idiot. I've put you through so much shit in the past that I'll never be able make it up to you." "No, it's okay. You've apologised already and like you said, it's all in the past. Trust me, you don't own me anything." Jimin mutters, wiping away the single tear that is falling down past the bridge of Yoongi's nose. "But it's not okay. You've forgiven me, but I can't forgive myself for hurting you. It's difficult to move on. You know-" "I know..." He cuts in before lifting Yoongi's chin up, putting on the sweetest smile he can. "I seriously do. Everything's settled, stop beating yourself up over it. And it's not like I haven't treated you badly." "Well, yeah." Yoongi lets out a faint laugh, voice still shaking a little. "Guess we're just two jerks." "Exactly, two jerks who belong together."

"Dinner's almost ready!" Jimin has invited the whole gang —minus Taewon, who couldn't unfortunately make it— over to their place for the first time ever. He would have organised a get-together a lot sooner, but everyone has been way too busy with their own things. Better late than never. Yoongi wasn't really on board, wanting to spend the evening by themselves, but in the end he caved in. Like he always does, ha. Our place... It has already been around four months since he moved into Yoongi's apartment, but just the idea of it still makes his heart flutter. There have of course been little quarrels —and a couple of bigger disagreements— between them, but living together has been so much better than he ever could have imagined. Also, the fact that there is more than one room he can spend time in is a positive change to say the least. Also, having an actual kitchen is a huge plus and he still hasn't gotten over the amazing views that expand across the city.

Yoongi is in the kitchen with Namjoon and Hoseok preparing the food. Jimin is lazing around in the living room with his best friend and the other couple of their group. "So, how has it been going?" Taehyung asks, leaning forward, whole face lit up in curiosity. The red head winds his arms around Jungkook who is sitting on the floor in between his legs, and the younger seems equally as intrigued, smiling widely. "You have no idea! It's been incredible. Yoongi is-" "Ugh, you guys are lucky you don't have the pleasure of seeing him every single day." Seokjin interrupts Jimin, sighing deeply, as the others let out agreeing sniggers. "Yoongi this.. Yoongi that.. I love when Yoongi.." "Hyung, shut up! I don't talk about him that much." Seokjin reacts with an obnoxious snort before looking at him, mouth in a straight line, one eyebrow raised comically high. Well, maybe he does talk about his boyfriend a little too often, but what else can he do; Yoongi is the most perfect person in the whole entire universe, both appearance and personality wise. "Hyung just told us how much he loves living with you, Jimin." Namjoon says as soon as he comes to sit in the living room, crashing onto the sofa right next to Jimin. Yoongi literally sprints from the kitchen, making everybody crack up, and shoots a murdering glare at a hysterically laughing Namjoon. "Joonie! Don't you dare say shit!" "Aww, let them be. They're just too in love to care about us." Hoseok coos loudly from the other room before also bursting out into a fit of loud cackles. Even though he could do without everyone's ridiculously unfunny banter and clowning around, that is what makes them them and it is all without any ill intentions. Yoongi goes back to the kitchen and the rest keep talking about random stuff that has happened lately, just having a great time. Then dinner is finally done and they all hurry to the table. As everyone starts eating, Jimin suddenly notices how Yoongi is staring at him. Of course, what's new. He gets completely lost in the other's eyes, even forgetting to put food in his mouth for a while, as they exchange loving glances, unaware of what is happening around them. Both of them jerk up, when Seokjin out of nowhere coughs and exclaims. "Jiminie, don't your cheeks hurt from smiling like an idiot?" "So funny. Try finding a girlfriend and we'll talk." Jimin hisses in between grinning as everyone lets out amused woos and ows. "Well, at least I don't get it on in a stingy alleyway." Seokjin replies while pointing a finger at him and Yoongi, a satisfied smirk on his face. "Yes, I'm traumatised for life after seeing you guys going at each other like some horny teenagers." No he fucking didn't! Jimin freezes, completely and utterly mortified. He glances at Yoongi who is without a doubt feeling the same, face buried in his palms, as the others are straight up howling in laughter like a pack of crazed wolves.

After dinner and that embarrassing revelation, the group collapses onto the sofas, each and every one of them complaining how full they are and regretting how much they ate. Without a warning, Yoongi stands up, clearing his throat. "Guys, I just wanted to thank you for coming over. I never say this, but you are all very important to me and my life would suck ass without you. Let's continue having each other's backs and stay in touch like this. Also, my other half. Congrats on your album making it onto the charts. I'm beyond proud of you baby!" If a needle was dropped right now, it could be heard very loud and very clear, because everyone is sitting completely still and blown away, eyes and mouths wide open, Jimin included. After probably a minute of silence and a whole lot of smoldering glares from Yoongi, Namjoon starts stuttering, incredulous chuckles escaping his lips. "I'm.. I can't- What?" "I can't believe you said that, hyung." Jungkook utters before sniggering against the side of Taehyung's thigh who is trying his best to hold back from laughing. "Bros, the moment has arrived." Hoseok joins the teasing as he ruffles Yoongi's hair, only earning a disgruntled scoff. "It's soft hours at the Min residency. My heart!" They all start excitedly yelling over each other as Yoongi continues standing up. Jimin can see how his expression gradually changes from moved to something completely different, but still a slight grin on his face. He can sense what is coming and already finds it absolutely hilarious. "Oh, you guys can just piss the hell off. I'll never say anything nice to anyone ever again." Yoongi sighs, voice unexpectedly flat and unbothered. "Yes, that's the Yoongs we all know. Come here, honey." Laughing, Jimin pulls the older down next to him onto the sofa before kissing his cheek. He snuggles himself up under Yoongi's arm, whispering a thank you into his ear. Together they silently watch and listen to their friends telling stories, being way too noisy and cracking the most stupid jokes. Just as Yoongi said, he hopes to have moments like these for as long as possible; the seven of them all gathered up. After years of unnecessary games and mutual hurting, Jimin doesn't know how him and Yoongi ended up here, in love and living together under the same roof. Regardless, right now he couldn't be happier. He feels unbelievably lucky with his life —the ups, the downs, the laughs, the tears, everything— and wouldn't trade it for anything else. He can't wait to see what life has in store for them next.

Chapter End Notes

THE END Hi! I had this chapter completed, but ended up changing almost all of it. Being the last one, of course it had to be filled with nothing but fluff and domestic boyfriends (and some smut that was too painful to write). Hope you enjoyed! Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this whole ass mess. Absolutely loved writing it and I really appreciate the kudos.

Lots of love, positive thoughts and happy moments to everyone! Take care
