We use who to ask about a person. This person can be either the subject (who performed the action) or the object (who received the action). When asking about the subject follow this structure: who + main verb. If you ask a question about the object you have to follow the normal structure for questions: who + auxiliary + subject + verb in the infinitive without to. Examples: Who called Ann? (we want to know who performed the action, the author subject) Who did Ann call? (we know the author Ann. We want to know who was the receiver object) Note: when asking questions in the present, use the verb in the third person singular. Example: Who takes you to school?
