We use who to ask about a person. This person can be either the subject (who performed the action) or the object (who received the action). When asking about the subject follow this structure: who + main verb. If you ask a question about the object you have to follow the normal structure for questions: who + auxiliary + subject + verb in the infinitive without to. Examples: Who called Ann? (we want to know who performed the action, the author  subject) Who did Ann call? (we know the author  Ann. We want to know who was the receiver  object) Note: when asking questions in the present, use the verb in the third person singular. Example: Who takes you to school?
