Overalls So, at first knit a small sample with St st and count the quantity of the sts per 10 cm. You can count the sts per 4-5 cm and calculate the knitting gauge per 10 cm from this number. I had 28 sts per 10 cm (or 2,8 sts per 1 cm). Measure the neck of the overalls. For this purpose take a small piece of the thread and lay it to the toy so that the thread lays at the contour of the neck (in the form which you want), leave at the back 1 cm for the strip:

Measure length of the thread, I had 12.5 cm.

Multiply this length by quantity of the sts per 1 cm = 12.5 x 2.8 = 35 sts. I did the front and the back identical therefore I added 1 st so that the quantity of the sts became even and can be shared then to 4 parts. In total I had 36 sts at the neck. Start with the blue yarn. Cast on 36 sts. Rnd 1: edge st, k34, edge st (36) Rnds 2-3 (2 rounds): edge st, p34, edge st (36) 3

Begin knit the raglan from the next round. What does it represent? We separate the sts of the back, front and sleeves from each other with the raglan lines (in this case such line consists from 1 st), knit at the same time the sts of the back, front and sleeves, in every 2nd round adding 1 st at the both sides of each raglan lines, i.e. add 8 sts in every 2nd round.

Count how many sts of the total quantity of the sts of the neck will go at the front and at the back, and how many – at the sleeves. For this purpose count the limit of the sts you will have at the front, the back and the sleeves: measure grasp of the hand in the widest place (so that the hand get through the sleeve) and a grasp of the body at the armpits and multiply it by quantity of sts per 1 cm of the sample.

4

All my creations are on the web-site knitting-life.ru

I had the grasp of the hand 10 cm = 2.8 x 10 = 28 sts, the grasp of the body at the armpits 25 cm = 2.8 x 25 = 70 sts (i.e. 35 sts goes to the back and 35 sts goes to the front). Because the back is divided into 2 parts (so that you can dress and remove the overalls), subtract 2 sts (the neckline) from the back sts, in total I had 35 sts at the front and 33 sts at the back. 33 sts is not divided into 2 halves therefore I removed 1 st from the front and 1 st from the back: 34 sts at the front and 32 sts at the back. Count all together: 28 sts of the one sleeve + 28 sts of the second sleeve + 34 sts of the front + 32 sts of the back = 122 sts I had 36 sts at the neck minus 4 sts of the raglan = 32 sts I.e. we have to receive from 32 sts 122 sts at the end of the raglan. Count how many sts we have to add: 122 – 32 = 90 sts. In every 2nd round of the raglan (as I already wrote above) we will add 8 sts, so we have to make 90/8 =11.25 increases. If you have the integer, then you can go to the next stage of the calculations and if you have not – you need to lead it to the integer. So, I had that in the 12th round of the increases I will need to add 2 sts instead of 8. I decided to remove these sts from the sleeves (28 – 1 = 27 sts). Later I can knit one more round with increases if I will need it; now we have to calculate sts so that begin knitting of the raglan. So, I have 11 increases, it is +2 sts to the front, back and each sleeve – i.e. +22 sts to the front, back and sleeves. The sleeve = 27 – 22 = 5 sts The front = 34 – 22 = 12 sts The back = 32 – 22 = 10 sts Check: 5 sts of the one sleeve + 5 sts of the second sleeve + 12 sts of the front + 10 sts of the back + 4 sts of the raglan = 36 sts (I have 36 sts at the needles, everything is right) 5

Try on to the baby. Knit the necessary quantity of rounds with increases if you need (or perhaps remove the superfluous rounds). I decided to stop on it.

The back of the baby with the tummy is more than the grasp at the armpits; therefore we need to add sts to the front and to the back. I suggest to make it for one round at once to connect knitting in the circle and reduce the cut at the back as much as it possible. Measure the grasp of the baby in the widest place (I have 30 cm).

Multiply this length by quantity of sts per 1 cm = 30 x 2.8 = 84 sts (it is desirable that this number can be divided totally, for example, per 7-8 sts – so that later you can make equal in width sections). I have 34 sts of the front and 32 sts of the back = 66 sts. Consider where you will add the raglan sts, I decided to add them to the sleeves. Thus, we need to receive 84 sts from the 66 sts it is 18 increases. At the beginning of the calculation of the sts we removed 2 sts from the back, so add them at the time of the connection of the knitting to the circle. Therefore we need to make not 18 increases, but 16. Distribute these increases evenly in the next round, at the same time remove sts of the sleeves to a pin (I have no such pin therefore I remove sts to the thread by means of the hook). Change the thread to the blue.

All my creations are on the web-site knitting-life.ru Rnd 26: edge st, k2, yo, (k4, yo) х 3, k1, remove 29 sts of the sleeve at a pin, k3, yo, (k4, yo) х 7, k3, remove 29 sts of the sleeve at a pin, k1, (yo, k4) х 3, yo, k2, edge st (82)

Rnd 27: edge st, p80, edge st (82) Change the thread to the light blue. Rnd 28: edge st, k81, cast on 2 sts and close the knitting to the circle (84) Knit further in circular rounds. Try on the overall to the baby at this stage, to calculate the quantity of the rounds in the sections. For this purpose measure the distance from the front to the back through the tummy (I measured later, when 2 sections were knitted).

Count how many rounds are in 1 cm and multiply this number by the distance from the front to the back. Count how many rounds needs to be taken for 1 cell so that it will be the integer (do not forget that we knit 2 rounds in the blue color between the sections). So, I had 7 rounds in the section and 3 cells on height of the overalls. 8

All my creations are on the web-site knitting-life.ru Rnds 29-34 (6 rounds): k84 (84) Change the thread to the blue. Rnds 35-36 (2 rounds): k84 (84) Change the thread to the light blue. Rnds 37-43 (7 rounds): k84 (84) Change the thread to the blue. Rnds 44-45 (2 rounds): k84 (84) Change the thread to the light blue. Rnds 46-52 (7 rounds): k84 (84) Change the thread to the blue. Rnd 53: k84 (84) Rnds 54-55 (2 rounds): p84 (84) Cast off all stitches with knitwise. Sew the middle of the last round of the overalls (about 2 cm), thus dividing the detail into two trouser-legs. Knit the sleeves: attach the blue thread to the free sts and knit 1 round knitwise and 2 rounds purwise. Cast off all stitches with knitwise. Sew the hole of the armpit. Cast on sts for the strips by means of the hook along the edge of the cut at the back and knit with St st 4 rounds; cast off all stitches. If you want to make the overalls with buttons (without pressbuttons), then you need to knit the eyelets for the buttons at one of the strips (knit yarn over in the 3rd round at the place of the eyelet, knit 2 stitches together and knit yarn over in the next round so that the opening was formed). Embroider the vertical strips of the cells by means of the hook with slip stitches. The hook is selected so that sts will be equal to the sts knitted by neddles on the height (I used the hook 2 mm). I had 6 sts between the cells, you can count by your quantity of sts or make the cells of the different size if you want.

Sew the pressbuttons to the strips; sew the buttons to the external part of the left strip. Place the bottom edges of the strips at each other and sew them to the cloth of the overalls.

Cast on 13 sts for the bow-tie and knit with St st 9 rounds, cast off all sts. Wind round the middle of the bow-tie with the thread, having put the folds. Sew the bow-tie to the front of the overalls.

Booties (make 2) Outline the foot of your baby to the paper.

We need to knit the detail for the sole according this contour. Below I give the description of the sole for my baby, but you can have another form of the foot. Do not try to get precisely to this contour and simplify it a little. As the knitted cloth very elastic, small flaws of the form of the sole in a ready bootee will not be visible. Knit the sole knitwise all rounds. Cast on 6 sts with the blue yarn. Rnd 1: edge st, k5 (6) Rnd 2: edge st, yo, k4, yo, k (8) Knit the yarn overs crossed in the purl rounds so that there will be no openings. Rnd 3: edge st, k7 (8) Rnd 4: edge st, k6, yo, k (9) Rnd 5: edge st, k8 (9) Rnd 6: edge st, k7, yo, k (10) Rnd 7: edge st, k9 (10) Rnd 8: edge st, k8, yo, k (11) Rnds 9-18 (10 rounds): edge st, k10 (11) Rnd 19: k2tog, k9 (10) Rnds 20-22 (3 rounds): edge st, k9 (10) 12

All my creations are on the web-site knitting-life.ru Rnd 23: k2tog, k8 (9) Rnd 24: edge st, k8 (9) Rnd 25: k2tog, k7 (8) Rnd 26: edge st, k7 (8) Cast off all sts. Now you need to cast on the sts around the sole perimeter for the bootee. Measure the grasp of the foot to learn how many sts we need to cast on (as at the photo):

I have 15 cm, multiply this number by the quantity of the sts per 1 cm calculated earlier: 15 х 2.8 = 42 sts. Means, we need cast on 42 sts around the perimeter of the sole. Do it by means of the hook, beginning from the heel.

Knit in circular rounds. 13

All my creations are on the web-site knitting-life.ru Rnds 1-2 (2 rounds): p42 (42) Change the thread to the light blue. Rnds 3-9 (7 rounds): k42 (42) At this stage the height of the bootee has to turn out to be equal to the height of the foot. Try on the bootee. Further knit only the toe of the bootee, it consists of 10 sts for me, mark with pins what sts for it we will take for the work.

Measure the grasp of the foot at its widest part

I had 10.5 cm (multiply by quantity of the sts per 1 cm) = 30 sts. We will do decreases at the toe to this quantity of the sts. 42 sts – 30 sts = 12 decreases. Make 10 decreases in the course of the knitting of the toe, and 2 last decreases – after the connection of the knitting in the circle. I write in brackets below the total amount of the remained sts (including sts of the bootee): 14

All my creations are on the web-site knitting-life.ru Rnd 10: knit sts to the first marked st of the toe (I had k15), further knit 10 sts of the toe in the front and wrong side rounds, adding every time 1 st from the bootee: k2, yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k2 (42) Knit the yarn overs in the purl rounds so that there will be the openings (it will be the openings for the lacing). Rnd 11: edge st, p8, p2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (41) Rnd 12: edge st, k8, k2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (40) Rnd 13: edge st, p8, p2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (39) Rnd 14: edge st, k1, yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, k2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (38) Rnd 15: edge st, p8, p2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (37) Rnd 16: edge st, k8, k2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (36) Rnd 17: edge st, p8, p2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (35) Rnd 18: edge st, k1, yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, k2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (34) Rnd 19: edge st, p8, p2tog (use 1 st of the bootee) (33) Rnd 20: edge st, k8, k2tog (use 1 st of the bootee), continue knitting around the bootee: k12 (32) Rnd 21: k9, k2tog (1 st of the bootee + 1 st of the toe), k8, ssk, k11 (30) Rnd 22: k30 (30) Change the thread to the blue. Rnd 23: k30 (30) Rnds 24-25 (2 rounds): p30 (30) Cast off all sts by knitwise. Knit the second bootee similarly. I had the right and left bootees. In this case you can knit the sole similarly to the first, but turn the sole by the wrong side to itself and cast on 42 sts. Crochet the chain 90 for the lacing; fix by transparent glue the edges of the chain. Lace up the booties and dress them to the baby.
